The actor Richard Todd who starred in the classic British war film The Dam Busters has died at the age of 90.

I'm very sad to hear that. I once had the pleasure of 'hosting' him at a Mess dinner a few years ago and saying to him that according to his films he'd been in the Army, Navy and RAF - but had he actually served in the forces. He then entertained us with a very light-hearted account of him parachuting (as a Subaltern in the Parachute Regiment) onto Pegasus Bridge on 5th June 1944.

A very good actor and a very nice man!

Sorry to hear about Richard Todd - another good Irish man gone.

The 'Dam Busters' - one of my all time favourite films, as well as our school medallion rugby team anthem. (wonder if there are any other people on the forum who went to the same school?)

Sad news. The Dam Busters has always been one of my favourite films. They don't make actors like him any more.
