Baroness Warsi.

Rather than attempt to restrict discussion on Islam, wouldn't this women be better engaged trying to give her down trodden Islamic sisters the apparent same amount of freedom that she enjoys.Who is she to tell us what can or can't be said over the dinner table.
This woman is in my opinion in her present position because of all the boxes she ticks, young, female,Asian and Islamic, which will be seen by the present Tory hirearchy as a vote winner in the Asian community.I have to wonder how she is viewed by her fellow male Asians.

Re: Baroness Warsi.

Well, there's probably between 800,00 to 1 million Muslim women in the UK, so why shouldn't they have a form of representation in government?

Re: Baroness Warsi.

Are you a Muslim woman, parrot?
Perhaps she will improve their lives simply by being a visible politician with a voice, and by criticising extremism.
Maybe there aren't enough white males in parliament for your liking???????

Re: Baroness Warsi.

She was a candidate for the Dewsbury MP's post but failed by about 5000 votes in a predominantly muslim area and was subsequently made a working peer.
Her background was from poor parents who made good and adopted conservative principles (if there are any left!)
She is a lawyer by Profession and training, but has so far only proved that she is where she is as a 'token' tory and as a thankyou for earlier support.
I don't think anyone in Dewsbury can actually remember her doing anything of note before she was given the peerage.
I don't think she will be seen as a typical Muslim woman and I can't personally see as she will improve the lives of anyone.

Hi Mushroom, what is a typical Muslim woman? She did fail to take the Dewsbury seat in 2005, but Labour lost the seat in 2010. I do wonder if it was anything to do with the fact that the sitting Labour MP(Shahid Malik) was exposed as having one of the highest expense claims in Westminster, and the people of Dewsbury recognized that fact.

Bill.

I wonder how many of those actively take part and go to vote? or maybe another question should be, how many of those women are allowed by their husbands/family to vote?
