World Kindness Day
This week has been a horrible news week for me, i was deeply saddened by the suicide of a couple who were living in poverty and committed suicide instead of struggling through another winter on handouts...if only i knew them to help them (i'm sure others wish that too).
Well lots is going on in my neighbourhood tomorrow and it's all linked to World Kindness Day. The Church are collecting toys for children in care this year, i'm collecting food tins and dried goods to make hampers for people in shelters or in need this winter. It doesn't take much to take part, it doesnt have to be tomorrow, you can have your day any day!Maybe you could go and call in on an elderly neighbour. For those of you in Turkey maybe you could make a nice big pot of food for the street animals, let them fill their bellies! There's so many threads where we ask "wheres the human kindness?" and i can tell many members already do things 365 days of the year anyway. I'd be interested to see what people do.
World Kindness Movement - Welcome

Re: World Kindness Day
That,s true Skydog, but sadly sometimes people need a little nudge to remind them.

Re: World Kindness Day
I had a meal out a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't eat it all, so asked for 'doggy bag' as I was walking across London Bridge I saw a homeless lady, so I gave her my doggy bag. The look on her face made my night!

I think so too Shirley but as Soo wrote sometimes people need a nudge to do something extra that they wouldn't normally do. For example me... as i said in the OP i was deeply touched by the suicide couple and have decided to make hampers to donate to a charity that would help others in the position they were in. I don't think i would nessesarily have done that this week, but i've spoken to my friends about them and thought strike whilst the irons hot....and when better to scrounge than on world kindness day!

Re: World Kindness Day
Kindness is given where kindness is due.
The people on this forum should be able to take the rough with the smooth.

And some people should remember that there are real people with real feelings sat at the other side of the computer. When your down or having a rough time it's nice to be helped up by others genuine concern and help or advice. Not kicked even further because we "should be able to take the rough with the smooth!"
Im glad i dont share your philosophy, i will give kindness to everyone.

Millilove-everytime I see your name on a post I know it will be full of love and kindness-what a pity there aren't more of your kind around. What goes around comes around is a true saying.I am also glad that I do not share the philosophy that you mentioned akin to 'I'm all right Jack '
Keep your kindness going- I do it too, and I get a lot of satisfaction from helping the less fortunate whether they are animals or people-it doesn't matter we all feel hunger don't we ?
