Crisis in Greece.

Greece heads for fresh elections after coalition talks fail - Telegraph

This could all be bad news for British investors and British exporters. Even if Greece holds another election this year. German tax-payers won't carry the financial burden on their own for much longer.

Bill.

Re: Crisis in Greece.

It is bad news for everyone basically. The basic problem is that however much money they lend to Greece, the country is unable to pay it back because they are not making it. Very fundamental problem. I read that the new elections and the decision from the lenders would not all happen until the end of June so we have another month of drama here.

Re: Crisis in Greece.

I wouldn't be too sure of that Bill and June. You may have spotted that the German economy has grown again. Over the next few weeks and months German workers will be given a wage increase, the export trade in Germany needs Greece and other Euro countries to buy their products, so expect a softening in the German insistence on austerity for the other EU countries. All of this, along with a new broom, in the guise of a new French President, along with all the protests, etc will bring a big change of attitude. After all, politics and economics are but a game, fiddle around here and there with it all, but at the end of the day, they'll get it to work, their way, in order to suit our way. As I said, it's a game and we're the chips on the poker table. They'll bit us chips, but they won't eat us. They can't, or the game is over, but this game never ends. Enjoy it, but learn some of the rules, they'll prove useful

Re: Crisis in Greece.

I'm inclined to agree with Irishman. There'll be a lot of scare talk about Greek leaving the eurozone but in the end they'll draw back from the brink.

It may be because İ'm blond but İ want to know where does all the money go? İ mean has it all moved to another planet and is that why we don't have enough anymore?

Or is some greedy git storing it all under their mattress? Economics are a mystery to me and to most of the European politicians it would seem.

Re: Crisis in Greece.

Beyazbeyan, I await correction from someone who knows more about economics than I do but I think it's because there was so much money lent on assets (property) which was nowhere near its worth. When I studied law one of the classic cases on this was the Tulip Bubble where shares were sold in Holland at crazy prices ( for the time) based on tulip bulbs!

Re: Crisis in Greece.

Or the South Sea Bubble or the Darien Venture the Scottish colony in Panama, we could go on and on basically it's human greed and stupidity. We don't learn do we?

Now surprisingly we have the rise of an extreme right party - well lets hope they don't have a charismatic leader otherwise it may be a case of here we go again.
