Lazy Benefit Scroungers

Are the government right to cap certain benefits ? why should my tax be used to fund peoples feckless lives staying in bed until the pubs open or Jeremy kyle comes on ?

or are we targetting the wrong people ?

I think the Government are right and it is a long time coming. Actually I don't know why they don't make people do community service to earn their job seekers allowance.

Re: Lazy Benefit Scroungers

So how do they answer the question the following week then "Have you been actively looking for work?" if they are doing community service?

Don't put jobseeker's allowance down, I went on it quite a few years ago when my workload dried up and it is completely degrading
After filling in multiple forms and "reporting for roll call" after 2 weeks , I was taken and shown on a computer screen exactly how much I was entitled to 0.00 !!!

Then they looked puzzled when I said I wouldn't be coming for roll call anymore (because that is what it is, just like school!!) and asked why!!
My brother due to an industrial accident has been trying to get it for 6 months and although he's a genuine case, he can't claim a penny

Re: Lazy Benefit Scroungers

When my dad became poorly we investigated what benefits he would be entitled to. A guy from the government benefits agency visited us and basically told my dear old dad that he was entitled to just disability living allowance, nothing else. A young man told my D Day surviving, honest, hard working dad that he couldn't help him because my dad had a small amount of savings in the bank. My dad only had only ever had his state pension, he had never claimed rent allowance or any other benefit and up to him becoming poorly had been carer to his partner without any state help. I'm not racist, I don't blame anyone wanting to come here to better themselves but I am against taxing working people to give to those who chose not to work. My dad told me he only had two children because he couldn't afford any more and he adored children. We I agree we need a shake up of the benefits system and yeah, whats wrong with people doing unpaid, charity or volunteering work whilst in receipt of benefits, who knows this could even lead to a full time, paid job.

Re: Lazy Benefit Scroungers

I would find it more acceptable, if every M.P. lived within thier means.
i.e. lived on the huge salary they get for what?
They should give up all expenses claims, the claims they submit make benefit scroungers look like amateurs. People in glass houses spring to mind

Re: Lazy Benefit Scroungers

You could always scrap the house of lords and save christ knows how much
How come that is never on the agenda when cuts are discussed?
I have never understood how some rich **** automatically gets to preside over laws being passed when all he ever did was be born rich
I'd sack the lot with no pensions, no payoff, nothing

Re: Lazy Benefit Scroungers

Everywhere I look the utility companies are using contractors to lay their cables, pipes, dig holes, etc etc.
The utility 'expert' still has to come to the job to inspect it and sign it off. Now, contractors aren't cheap, are they?
Surely there is a way we could use signers-on to operate diggers and cut costs for the utility companies, (given the current climate there must be people with those skills unemployed) then their overheads wouldn't be so high and our bills would come down.

Ah Ted if you are going to question why people have entitlement to untold riches etc just by quirk of birth surely Buck house as well as House of Lords would need scrutiny
