Appreciate any help. Please read

This maybe a long shot. Many expats have left Turkey and moved to Bulgaria. If like me you still keep in contact with friends, you maybe able to give some advice. This is Very Urgent.
Did any of your friends own a Silver Peugeot Estate Uk plated starting V8.
The police need the full registration number.
A couple named Joe and Marie Cairns bought this car.
They set off in it from Spasovo Bulgaria in the middle of November to visit family and friends in the UK, they have not been heard of since.
The family as you can imagin are very worried.
Please let me know if you have any information.
Many thanks
Annette

Sorry I can't help with your question Spencer.

There are a lot of members here with connections & friends in Bulgaria, hopefully they look in soon & be able to offer some advice.

Good luck, I hope they are found safe & well.

I presume Interpol are involved are they not able to track them an border controls through passports. Gosh that is so dreadful, it is also why it is so important to copy and or scan all your credit cards etc passports driving licence etc, lists of perscriptions and who to contact etc and keep a copy yourselves and leave one with a family member or good friend
Hope all is well will say a prayer for them. Keep uis informed. Have sent it on to others in Bulgaria
Maybe the family should set up a facebook page with their pictures and details of car etc and suggested trip and get everyone we know to like it and promote it. You would be amazed

I do not know anymore than I have told you. The police need the car registration to check the border points, because of EU, you do not have your passports stamped, they just look at them. Your car would have to have certain payments paid to use certain roads in different countries, and I assume details are taken of the car registration. A few of us are putting out feelers to try and help. But yes if we should hear anything we will let you know.

I'm sorry if I have misunderstood but surely if it is registered in the UK it would be easy to get the number.

Yes I am in Bulgaria. It is on our forums. But people come over to Bulgaria from Turkey as well to sell cars. We have no idea of the original owner, or his whereabouts. Cars can be driven here as it is part of Europe. Paper work may not have been done in the UK until they returned.

Re: Appreciate any help. Please read

thats very worrying!
does anyone know when they actually bought the car? if you had a rough date that shud help.
I know you need your registration doc when crossing the channel so I wud of thought the couple and the seller sent the paperwork off before travelling? otherwise if the paperwork for the car is in someone elses name , could that cause problems at immigration control when crossing the channel? and the insurance company needs to know who the regestered keeper is too.
I personally dont think many sellers of cars wud be happy for the new owners to not reregister it straight away in case they get parking fines etc?
mite be worth contacting the DVLA asking them to do a search. it cant be that hard with everything on computer now. they have the names of the couple, make and age of car. V reg, sold and bought in bulgaria so Im assuming the new keepers address wud be bulgaria? maybe not. just tryin to come up with ideas.
then you have the mobile phone route, they are easy to track movements.
sure sounds very worrying and I know that driving thru some parts of eastern europe can be very dangerous both for roads/weather and specially crime. not looking too good after all this time. I really hope they are found safe and well

No help on this particular occasion but people travelling overseas should consider registering with LOCATE on the Foreign and Commonwealth website. You can register details of planned trips for up to a year ahead helping you to be traced in the event of an emergency. It doesn't take long and it may help families in situations like this.
