More on this Marist-Leninist terrorist group. They have killed here in Turkey before.

Kingfisher, you are entitled to your opinion, and to air you views, as am I.

On reflection and reading a different report, looking at his picture and his name it looks like one set of muslim fanatics got in first before a different set of muslim fanatics.

muslims killing muslims, nothing changes! I just wish that if they have a problem with the US, they would actually grow a set of balls go to the US and not, as they have done killed and maimed innocent Turkish citizens going about their peaceful daily business.

Re: One reported dead in explosion near US Embassy in Turkish capital Ankara

Whilst the attacker is reportedly a member of leftist organization, it is naive to dismiss Islam's influence on his action. The organization [Devrimci Halk Kurtuluş Partisi-Cephesi] was led by Dursun Karatas until his death in 2008. Here is a link to his funeral;

Karatas Funeral

Note thousands of mourners joined the funeral "Namaz", Islamic prayer customs and the ritual and buried according to Islamic tradition. This totalitarian nature and violent behavior, though not invented by Islam, most certainly nurtured by it through martyrdom heavenly rewards.

Re: One reported dead in explosion near US Embassy in Turkish capital Ankara

Nothing in this article states anything about Islamic organizations being involved in the leftist cell responsible for today's attack. Plain and simple, a leftist terror organization. Don't try and blame everything on Islamic groups, that is a plain cop-out, there are many terrorist groups in Turkey. I may have my dislike of Islamic terror groups and will always support the justice that goes in hunting them down and closing them down, but Celal, you seem to be hell-bent on grouping all terror on them, why is that? And I ask this in a kind and respectful manner.

Here are the facts. Group's leader was most definitely Muslim. His followers were Muslims as they joined the "Cenaze Namazi". True, that it is said to be a leftist organization but it is naive to separate it from his beliefs. His belief system is Islam. Islam provides rewards for martyrs.

Here is a breaking news, in case you didnt know. Beliefs have consequences.

Re: One reported dead in explosion near US Embassy in Turkish capital Ankara

The fact that the suspected dead bomber was in jail for attacking a military rest house in Istanbul and was in jail for it from 1997-2000 speaks volumes for the actions this leftist terror group is known for. Again, your painting a picture where one doesn't seem to exist.

Re: One reported dead in explosion near US Embassy in Turkish capital Ankara

Steve, then perhaps, you would be kind enough to enlighten the rest of us as to why there are so many (as is in this case) examples of suicide bombers who are Muslims. Why do people blow themselves up? They knowingly are willing to die for a cause. How are they persuaded to kill themselves? You may be able to find some examples in other groups, but none are as prolific as this group.

Do you know what the root cause of such a belief? Please explain.

Re: One reported dead in explosion near US Embassy in Turkish capital Ankara

Lara,
Don't you read the papers or follow the news? From one end of the world to the other Muslims are killing themselves and those opposed to their was of thinking. Just read about the terrorism today in Pakistan and Iraq. Can you not understand why non-muslimns jump to the conclusion it was a religious act of terror. The denial is beyond comprehension.
