Missed what point Pete? Des has very wittingly composed his post to have a subtle reference to "nailing " and Easter", by including the word CROSS !
Or, did that go over your head?

Sorry Des, I should remember you are as sharp as a button. I think I had a senior moment but what makes it worse is to be picked up by ted of all people. Will I ever live down the shame? Are there any monasteries here in Turkey?

Re: Nail the tax dodgers.

I was listening to a debate on the radio about this earlier this morning. Funny, that it was only Jimmy Carr they 'outed' he was just 1 of 1,0000 highly paid tax dodgers, who are the other 999?

"Tax avoidance is legal although David Cameron has described it as "morally wrong".

Asthana added: "The Prime Minister stuck the boot in when The Times first outed comedian Jimmy Carr as a tax avoider.

"He was a little less willing to do so when it was Conservative-supporting Gary Barlow, who had also invested in the scheme we are talking about today."

If the Government follow this policy up,(and I certainly hope that they do) then hopefully they can catch all those who have been dodging tax payments, whether through avoidance or evasion. Most of us have the tax taken from us before we even see our money. So there is no chance to avoid or evade. The big problem is, this is a lucrative business for crafty accountants.

Bill
The government are more interested in catching benefit cheats (as is the "impartial" British media),why would they want their friends to pay what they should?

BBC News - Tax avoidance: What are the rules?

This might help a bit for those of us who are not to sure about evasion and avoidance.

Think about it?
Who actually wants to pay more than they should?
Absolutely - tax avoidance is the duty of every company to ensure maximum business growth, investor return and employee security.

I think I see a few sour grapes here from people who are/were unable to take advantage of their employed situation

Re: Nail the tax dodgers.

Worth a watch if you didn't see the channel4 'Dispatches' prog on Monday,
'How the Rich Avoid Tax'?

"Actor Greg Wise' secretly records meetings with tax planners, who reveal legal tax avoidance schemes that are normally only available to the rich & famous"

What an eye opener, no names mentioned but reference is made about previous inhabitants of number 10 having availed themselves of these services!

So, so simple, when you have some dosh & know a man who knows how to & if, you're inclined........

Dispatches - All 4

I could give you lists of names of people in the UK who do have a legal means of avoiding tax and do not do so, partly due to ignorance and others that cant be bothered.
A large majority will be fortunate they dont see the tax bill their inheritors will get.
