10 Names Russia Hopes You'll Never Know

Since Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, Moscow and its proxies have put dozens of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar political prisoners behind bars. However, there are many other people in Russian prisons who have been incarcerated for their unwillingness to bow down to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime.

The fabrication of these cases has been refined in Russia's courts. There a court does not need real evidence, just an order from above. The evidence and all other case-related elements can be carelessly thrown together, as the details don’t matter. Moreover, Russians can hold people in pre-trial detention centers for years without trial…

President Putin's electoral rating drops below 60 percent

MOSCOW (AP) — A leading Russian polling agency says the electoral rating of President Vladimir Putin has dropped below 60 percent for the first time in five years.

The survey by Levada Center published Thursday showed 56 percent of likely voters saying they would cast their ballots for Putin in elections expected in 2024. That is 10 percent lower than a year ago. The last time electoral support for Putin dropped below 60 percent, according to similar Levada surveys, was in 2013.

Putin, who has been ruling Russia since 2000, was re-elected for another six-year term in March. Unpopular changes to the pension system announced earlier this year have dented his popularity, while euphoria over the widely popular 2014 annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula has waned.

Russia poses greater threat to Britain than Isil, says new Army chief

Russia “indisputably” poses a far greater threat to national security than Islamic terrorist groups such as al-Qaida and Isis, the new head of the British army has warned.

General Mark Carleton-Smith said the UK cannot be complacent about the threat Russia poses “or leave it uncontested”.

The former SAS commander said Russia had made plain its preparedness to use force to expand its interests, while it had also been “systematic” in its efforts to exploit cyber space and undersea military arenas.

“The Russians seek to exploit vulnerability and weakness wherever they detect it,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

Army minister accuses Corbyn of siding with Russia against Nato

A Conservative defence minister has launched an extraordinary attack on Jeremy Corbyn, accusing the Labour leader of collaborating with Russian aggression.

Mike Penning, the armed forces minister, took issue with Corbyn’s comments that it was “unfortunate that troops have gone up to the border on both sides” – referring to Nato and Russian forces on either side of the Estonian border.

To Deal with Putin, West Needs to Study the Russian Criminal World

Staunton, November 24 – Russian foreign policy, Igor Eidman says, “consists of a bizarre mix of the traditions of a corrupt bureaucracy and a criminal world.” Europeans and others in the West need to recognize this; otherwise, they will discover that how they understand Putin is very much at odds with how he understands himself.

“One and the same thing has for the Kremlin and for Europe diametrically opposite meaning,” the Russian sociologist and commentator of Deutsche Welle says. That can be easily seen if one considers several examples…

Re: Has Russia gone Rogue?

How many wake-up calls do we really need to wake up?

History brims with examples of strong leadership. Contemporaries used to call the former Yugoslav leader, Josip Broz Tito, a “benevolent dictator,: as Yugoslavia under his rule appeared a quiet and peaceful place. Yet, the Balkans, immersed in an unprecedented bloodshed following the collapse of communist rule, until this day reminds us of the perils of taking the imagined for real.

The Romanian communist leader, Nicolae Ceaușescu, was also sometimes celebrated as “brave” for his decisions to ease press censorship and condemn the Soviet intervention of Czechoslovakia in 1968. But in the end, he too turned out to be just a paranoid dictator who sent armed forces against his people. He was ultimately overthrown and shot dead in a violent revolution.

The main value that dictatorships preach is stability. But their stability is often confused with stagnation, which is no value in itself. On the contrary, dictatorships are extremely fragile and once they fail – and they always fail, sooner or later – they risk the lives of thousands, if not millions, of innocent people…

What matters now is not Russia’s next move but that of our own. As usual, we have issued a statement condemning Russia’s unacceptable behavior. But shall we stop here? Can’t we do anything more to make the aggressor pay the full price?...

По-другому и быть не могло: Крымский мост сдвинулся и находится в критическом состоянии, Путин в ярости, великому проекту конец

Google translate…

It could not be otherwise: the Crimean bridge has shifted and is in a critical state, Putin is furious, the great project is ended.

Putin could not resist the laws of physics: the construction of the "Crimean Bridge" began to shift.

??-??????? ? ???? ?? ?????: ???????? ???? ????????? ? ????????? ? ??????????? ?????????, ????? ? ??????, ???????? ??????? ?????

An interesting development if true

France to Probe Possible Russian Influence on Yellow Vest Riots

France opened a probe into possible Russian interference behind the country’s Yellow Vest protests, after reports that social-media accounts linked to Moscow have increasingly targeted the movement.

According to the Alliance for Securing Democracy, about 600 Twitter accounts known to promote Kremlin views have begun focusing on France, boosting their use of the hashtag #giletsjaunes, the French name for the Yellow Vest movement. French security services are looking at the situation, Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Sunday in a radio interview with RTL.
