Russian Humanitarian Aid? Past Recipients Say There's No Such Thing

A brief review of Russia's "humanitarian missions". As is apparent, Russia has used that excuse before, most recently in chipping off a piece of Georgia in 1993.

Spurs, Jaycey: The shooting down of the Malaysian airline has completely disappeared from the news. There are theories that one reason the "humanitarian convoy" story was concocted was as a propaganda ploy to direct the gaze away from an inconvenient truth. What do you think? What has the Ukraine press said about it? The trucks in the convoy are strangely almost empty.

I think that everything that could be said about MH17 has already been said and as the international community has no intention of taking any action it’s convenient to sweep the whole issue under the carpet.

Little has been said about the blatant incursion of Russian army units. All the news is now focused on the (empty?) ‘humanitarian’ convoy. As you say possibly a smokescreen. Or has hardware already been off loaded elsewhere? Or do they intend evacuating terrorists from the area? The latter unlikely as I can’t see Russia wanting to repatriate them.

We’ve been monitoring the Ukr news channels but nothing except the convoy for the past three days.

Re: Russian Sanctions

It is interesting re the Russian military convoys that have crossed into Ukraine territory. Russia, of course, says there was no such thing. Several international news correspondents on different news outlets have reported that they saw those convoys crossing into Ukraine. And the Ukraine Defense Minister says a part of those military convoys were destroyed. Apparently there are no good pictures available. So no news.

Apparently the military convoy was partly destroyed by artillery so presumably the Ukr army was some distance away hence no photos.

Meanwhile … Rebel leader says 1,200 Russian fighters, weapons en route to eastern Ukraine (VIDEO)

Must admit I find it strange that nothing has yet been released from the two black boxes, likewise the last radio recordings for MH17. The other Malaysian flight that is still missing, voice recordings were released within three days. With all the further sanctions that came from the downing of the flight, I fail to see how it can be swept under the carpet. I am sure the likes of Australia or Holland would not settle for a sweeping. Has it not been mentioned by the Ukraine government? What reason does anyone have for withholding that info? After all it seems all other reporting of border incursions ect is reported on.

It was reported elsewhere that findings will be published in September – delay probably caused by the number of agencies involved and by the fact that terrorists have prevented proper examination of the wreckage.

But the main findings have already been reported, ie. MH17 was downed by a Russian supplied missile by terrorists over terrorist held area.

More to the point…

1. What more can the black boxes tell us?
2. What more do we need to know?
3. And what is the international community going to do about it?

If any action was to be taken it should have been taken already – and expressions of outrage are hardly sufficient.
I think it’s been swept under the carpet already

Well Jaycey it was not too long back that these black boxes was the be all & end all. Even remember the handing over of them.

When you say the international community are sweeping the issue under the carpet, why would they do that? Is this the same international community that has put sanctions on Russia along with helping the Ukraine financially? If so, what's to hide? Pretty sure that by now Russia knows which side the international community is on.

"The terrorists have a box & the Russians have a box - wouldn't surprise me if they came to the same conclusion". That was weeks back, what conclusions did the Russians & terrorists come up with? None, they handed the boxes over. At the time it was "they will be doctored or lost" but.............they handed them over.

Does anybody have three simple answers?

Because they don’t know what action to take – sanctions are no answer to mass murder.

And you were saying that no findings have been released …
