Re: New Terror Group

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

To begin with, calling the group “Khorasan” makes no sense either in Arabic or any other language. Khorasan is not an organizational name or even some exotic acronym, but an ancient Islamic historical term from the far east of the Muslim world. It is used today by al-Qaeda (and others who are fond of archaic Islamic terminology) to describe the Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran region.

What is being discussed is not a “new terrorist group,” but rather a specialized cell that has gradually been established within, or on, the fringes of an already existing al-Qaeda franchise, the so-called Nusra Front. What this seems to be about is a jihadi cell consisting of veteran al-Qaeda members who have arrived to the Nusra Front in Syria from abroad, mainly via Iran, and who are in direct contact with al-Qaeda’s international leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, himself believed to be based in Pakistan.

Monday, the United States and allied Arab nations began a campaign of air strikes in Syria to “degrade and ultimately destroy” the so-called Islamic State, a Syria- and Iraq-based al-Qaeda splinter group also known as ISIS or ISIL.
They go on to claim a total of eight aerial attacks “against Khorasan Group targets west of Aleppo” including “training camps, an explosives and munitions production facility, a communication building and command and control facilities.”

Hi Ian, where is this being reported? as all I can find is that "Parliament is expected to be recalled on Friday to discuss the UK's role in air strikes against Islamic State"

they are doing a good job at funding themselves with oil revenue.. mostly from Turkey..with ransom money handed by several countries and of scretive financiers who back their vision of world İslam

when there are communities being wiped by utter barbarism should the West look the other way, when people are fleeing from terror does it help to play the blame game ,does it matter who comes to their aid for whatever reason if by doing so they can find relief
Undeniably the US has its own interests first and foremost just as the religious fanatics are hellishly bent on killing all but their own...what choice is there except confrontation.

Who would not say whatever they were told when faced with these idiots? I would. Gun to my head or threat of a machete, I'd read from their prepared script. Wouldn't mean a word of it, but I'd say it to try and get another day, hour or minute of life. FF do you really believe this guy said what was on his heart and that he meant any of it?

Re the bombing that has started, no one wanted to see the world taking action like this bombing and killing, but, and I'm not being facetious when I ask this, what else can be done to stop them? I could only see two choices, join in the bombing to try and wipe them out, or leave them to get on with it. What else is there? Should we (the UK) keep out and let the rest of the world bomb them?

The latest propaganda, Shirley, is that Assad is buying the oil from ISIS. We are all to believe that it is black market oil in Turkey, which lets the Turkish government off the hook. The Assad regime, however, is in league with ISIS by buying the oil. The line being pushed is that ISIS doesn't target the Assad forces and, along with not targeting ISIS, Assad released dangerous criminals to swell their ranks in the early stages of the war.

Give it time and we will be told that ISIS have Russian guns or Chinese rockets, depending on which of those countries will be the scapegoat to cover up the fact that they were armed by the coalition countries now taking in the air strikes.

At this stage, confrontation is the only option but it all could have been avoided had the US insisted that the rebels negotiate rather than promising them air strikes on Damascus.

Cameron is in USA to address UN. At a side meeting the President of Iraq will ask him to get involved in the fighting. He will then come back and ask Parliament to agree. Once again UK will be fed the line that this is to avert a real danger to UK citizens. We will then have the usual spectacle of aircraft video of bombs dropping on houses which, we will be told, ensures our safety and shows they do not bomb civilians. What he will not tell you is what the long-term plan is, or how long it goes on for ( years, is the estimate of some analysts)

Re: New Terror Group

Abu Q was released in Jordan this morning , insufficient evidence , bet he is glad to be back on the streets of Jordan. Now the undertaking given to Uk.gov by Jordan is satisfied. With one bound he is free from that protection. Now the fun and games will begin again for him.

He is permanantly excluded from the uk , let us see where he ends up.

Yet again British public was LIED to and Screwed Hard core about Abu Q an innocent man all along.

They should give him compensation for Wrongful Arrest and imprisonment and the Queen should invite him to Balmoral apologise and Shake his hands just like she did with the IRA.

Shake him warmly by the throat would be more appropriate.

Your havin a larf, its a big game foxy, called slowly slowly catchy monkey. I'm not too surprised at this result, as the conditions imposed on his deportation, pretty much guaranteed it. I suspect that in the next few weeks or months, we will see him re-arrested on other offences (which of course would not be covered by the terms of the deportation), which will enable the Jordanians to conduct a 'robust' investigation. The death penalty would obviously apply to any future charges.
It's already been announced that he wont be allowed back in the UK.
