Agreed, the problem seems to be that the issues of unemployment tend to all get thrown in the pot together. The other concerns are the statements relating to actual unemployment figures. The government tends to gloss over the fact that there are more actual workers claiming benefits than the unemployed. I am no expert on this but if I am reading it right, people can take cr*p, low paid jobs & claim a wage top up & rent subsidies. The governments cap on benefits (I think) of £23k per year, there are many people who earn nowhere near that.
At the end of the day the government is actually subsidising companies & the desperately needs to change. Companies will advise their workers exactly what to claim for because it keeps their own wage bill down.
