Gandhi Statue

I´m sure he was a lovely fellow, but why has a statue to Gandhi been put outside UK Houses of Parliament?

Is it vote chasing by PC politicians, or is there some less cynical reason I am missing?

Re: Gandhi Statue

It was not universally greeted by some of Gandhi's own.

"But fair play to Ms Vagdama for reminding the world that even Gandhi’s cupboard was not without skeletons. She says she knows that she is “not going to win’’ but has ensured that the statue "will never have good vibes’’. Suddenly, there is a big question mark over the British government’s grand gesture which, in a breathless speech in Delhi last month, Mr Osborne hailed as “fitting tribute …and a permanent monument to our friendship with India’’.

There has been a statue of Gandhi since 1968 in London, why did there need to be another?

Re: Gandhi Statue

As an aside , i believe that Ghandi's mantra , enabled the Viceroy to extricate the Empire form a conflagration in India , with relatively little cost to British and allied lives.

Had we persisted , then imho , Mr. Jinnah's designs would have cost millions of more lives.

Just my opinion.
