Migration: Are more people on the move than ever before? - BBC News

Across the world, so many people displaced.
These figures are truly alarming.

Re: Migrant quotas

Who is paying for the "upkeep" of these refugees in Greece & Italy whilst they are being held & processed? Surely not individual countries? If Greece does default on their debts, will they open the flood gates like they have threatened to do? If I was a refugee that's the country I would head for in the hope that Greece did default.
I must say looking at the age of many of the refugees, they seem to be of fighting or army age, only a thought.

Sooner or later the West will grasp that the "work" needs to be done at source..........whatever that entails.

One cannot continue hiding heads in sand.
Why did they not stay in Turkey ?
Does Turkey not want them ?
If not, why not ?

Re: Migrant quotas

Just read this article from 2011, Greece, Turkey & Illegal immigrants, What the Hell Is going on!

"If the client cannot pay the full amount, he is basically sold to his future employer, usually a second-generation immigrant in a European city, where he works until he repays his voyage. Thus London, Paris and Berlin have amassed a considerable number of modern-day slaves who work for almost nothing, long-hours under conditions of extreme stress and insecurity. The present state of turbulence in the Arab-Muslim world will only make things worse, since a significant number of people from this region will seek to enter Europe via the same routes."

The footage is distressing & worrying for all concerned.

Kibris, with no checks, lord knows who is using these groups to travel unnoticed....
You can ask Turkey , but the majority leaving Turkey are Syrian/ Iraqi refugees .

And Turkey are having to deal with 1.7 million registered just Syrian refugee's, unregistered thought to be over 2 million many wandering from the camps willing to take underpaid jobs in Turkey driving down all to low wages .

UK has taken 90 Syrian families .

Whilst I personally agree refugees should be kept nearer to the country of origin ,so when the situation changes they can return .
Turkey's having to deal with an inordinate amount of refugee's and should be thanked for their generosity which is wearing thin, with all the problems some refugees are causing. Istanbul and some resort towns are awash with refugees begging ,looking for work and making mischief .

I'm sure most of us in the UK sympathise with the effects of 'wages being driven down' due to high levels of migration, people willing to work for peanuts, more beggars on the streets & getting up to mischief

The illegal trafficking of People predates the present crisis of refugee's, steps should have been taken years ago instead of allowing People Traffickers to become more powerful & wealthy.

Greece, Turkey and Illegal Immigration - Worldpress.org

The UK is less than a third the size of Turkey & has been inundated with hundreds of thousands migrating here for many years, Turkey has not, most migrants to Turkey have dosh in their pockets, others pass through.

Turkey and United Kingdom Comparison - Examine Similarities and Differences

"More than France AND Germany! England officially most overcrowded country in Europe"

England now most overcrowded major country in EU | UK | News | Daily Express

Maybe Turkey should use some of the Millions it receives each year from the coffers of the EU to feed & give shelter to these poor people. They might even see fit to give them some of their special shoe boxes......

I feel for the 'holiday makers' on Kos, they have worked hard all year, saved up, planned & looked forward to a well deserved rest & break from the depression that's growing in the UK. No doubt many of them have also contributed to the Many appeals for Aid & Money from countries effected by crisis.

I don't think any of us would like to arrive at our holiday destination to find such distress & confusion, we all need a break from realilty
