Re: Global warming

THE END OF COOKING AND HEATING BY GAS IS NOW IN SIGHT

(but only in the UK)

Because the UK is the only country in the world that has legally binding CO2 reduction targets, in order to meet the Paris (COP21) climate change agreement, the UK will now have to phase out gas as a source of energy by 2030:

Britain will have to scrap gas boilers and cookers as it panders to UN climate change deal | UK | News | Daily Express

Not only is the UK facing imminent power blackouts, soon you will not be to cook/heat yourselves with gas!!

This posting was brought to you by the "You could not make it up" department.

Even some of the poorest countries of the EU have rejected fracking, along with some of the more prosperous, that should tell us something.

Call for fracking to get started in UK - BBC News
It seems that the UK government, along with other EU countries may now shy away from shale gas too. Everyone is being held to ransom by imbecile politicians at the behest of "green" pressure groups. Quote from the above BBC news item:

"However, the report was criticised by Greenpeace, coming just days after a climate deal was agreed in Paris.

"Whatever planet the UK fracking lobby inhabits, it can't be the same one where world leaders just reached a historic deal that puts fossil fuels on the wrong side of history," Greenpeace said.

"If the UK government is really committed to keeping its end of the Paris deal, it must rethink its support for fracking and back safe, cheap clean energy instead."
"

Yeah... what a great idea. Lets build hundreds of thousands more wind turbines...

Re: Global warming

Why don't UK Gov mandate all new builds incorporate Solar & Eco systems?

Silly me, that would mean, all the companies/countries that bought our Utility's wouldn't be able to make exorbitant profits from us anymore......

Re: Global warming

GLOBAL WARMING/MAN MADE CLIMATE CHANGE

THE BIGGEST LIE EVER TOLD

Following on from my earlier posts that suggest:

1. You can only wash clothes on windy or sunny days and;
2. Gas is soon to phased out.

Here is the latest...

We all know that eating red and or processed meat gives you cancer and will shorten you life. Right? No? Then check out this recent article publicising the dangers. Author: World Health Organisation:

Processed meats do cause cancer - WHO - BBC News

O.K. Today there is a report in the Daily Fail (whoops, I mean Mail), that suggests that if you gave up meat, then you are actually contributing to global warming:

Are vegetarians to blame for climate change? Researchers find lettuce is ?three times worse than BACON' for emissions | Daily Mail Online

"Sticking to a vegetarian diet may not be as beneficial to the environment as you think — in fact, it might be helping to destroy it.

A study from Carnegie Mellon University has found that many common vegetables require more resources per calorie, and produce higher greenhouse gas emissions than some types of meat."

I know what your probably thinking- typical DM rubbish. But, it is also being reported in the Daily Telegraph. Remember the DT. The bastion of serious reporting and gravitas. The place to go where you can expect only serious articles. Not so, I'm afraid:

Lettuce 'three times worse than bacon' for the environment, scientists claim - Telegraph

"Despite calls from celebrities including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sir Paul McCartney for people to eat less meat to help save the planet, new research suggests that ‘healthier’ diets with more fruit and vegetables could actually be worse for global warming."

It's great to laugh in the morning isn't it? Nothing like a good old belly laugh to set you up for the day!

Re: Global warming

I was listening to a statistician talking about this Carnegie Mellon Uni report. Bit beyond my simple maths, but he was amazed that this prestigious university had released such rubbish; he explained that they had selectively compared things that were not comparable just to make their point. His view was that somebody should explain who funded the report as that may explain the outcome.
