This is a sad misunderstanding of the situation.

Firstly Kurds aren't the problem, terrorists are. Kurdish votes pushed the HDP over the 10% threshold and now RTE is making them all an enemy of the state. Imagine, it's a bit like telling people bees are dangerous, they're your enemy; if you continually prod the bee hive and some of them break out and sting you, you get to say "See, I told you so".
Secondly, the Suruc bombing, the Ankara peace march, the previous Istanbul suicide bombing and todays attack are all linked to ISIS, not the PKK or Kurds.

TAK claimed responsibility for the latest Ankara bombing and the previous one seemed to be (according to the government) a joint venture by ISIS and the PKK, which is strange considering the Kurds are trying to defeat ISIS.

Erdogan doesn't need to talk to the Kurds at all...he needs to apologise to them.

Re: More sad news - another Istanbul bombing

Seems to me that there's a pattern here, its a pattern of how other countries have gone but Turkey is on the edge of Europe, all of a sudden its not so "over there", its getting closer to home.

Opposition parties condemn Istanbul suicide bombing

“We strongly condemn terrorism and call on everybody who have left Turkey on the lap of terrorism to take responsibility,” said Selin Sayek Böke, deputy leader and spokeswoman of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).

“We ask again, who is responsible for taking this path that took Turkey into a terror swamp. We do not want to hear big words on terror fight anymore, we want immediate measures that will secure our citizens,” she added in a veiled criticism of the government.

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), a Kurdish problem-focused party often slammed by AKP ruling party officials for its alleged links to the PKK, condemned the bombing.

"Just as in the Ankara attack, this is a terrorist act that directly targets civilians," the HDP said in a written statement. "Whoever carried out this attack, it is unacceptable and inexcusable."

Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) called for solidarity.

“Whatever happens, the Turkish nation has the power to stand up and overcome terrorism,” Bahçeli said in his statement.

“The traitors will fail, they will not be able to destroy our national unity and brotherhood,” he added.

AKP probes member for wishing Israelis injured in Istanbul attack had died

Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against one of its district-level members for her comments on social media about March 19’s Istanbul blast, which killed at least five people and injured 39 others, a party official said.

Hatice Yücel, who heads Istanbul's Eyüp district women's branch, tweeted that comments of party member İrem Aktaş, who was the propaganda chief of the women’s branch, about blast victims of Israeli citizens did not reflect AKP's viewpoint.

Aktaş wrote on Twitter in reply to a story on the Israelis injured in the Istanbul attack: “Let the Israeli citizens be worse, I wish they all died.” She later deleted the tweet and shut down her social media accounts.

The party has launched disciplinary proceedings against Aktaş, which could result in her dismissal from the party, Yücel added.

A suicide bomb attack in central Istanbul killed five people, including three Israelis and one Iranian, and injuring 39 people, including Israelis and other
nationals.

Istanbul deserted after suicide attack: Four looks around the city - LOCAL

ISIS linked attack has left Istanbul in a state of shock. Turkey has three very active terror groups attacking random places and people, TAK has promised to target tourists.

With three enemies intent on causing death and mayhem I have to wonder how the general public will be protected.

Charlotte, sadly, they won't be protected until they take their own safety into their own hands and stop deluding themselves that being 'miles' from these atrocities somehow means they are not at risk...the general public and tourists I mean , even if it means avoiding areas, exactly as the terrorists want.

Re: More sad news - another Istanbul bombing

Apparently a suicide bomber has purchased a passolig card - an item that was specifically designed to ensure the safety and protection of football fans! To purchase one you must give all your personal details including bank details and ID details, plus it costs between 16tl -24tl per year. To enter a stadium in Turkey you must have one of these cards *electric tickets are uploaded to the card* and provide proof. This hasn't deterred the terrorists though, tonights Galatasary/Fenerbahce game has been cancelled - first fans were told to evacuate the stadium because of a threat and after Galatasary (who was playing at home) refused to play the game without their fans.

If the government can't protect fans at this match, they can't protect fans at any match.
