Last American prisoner from the Korean War to be released from forced labor camp

The prisoner in question, is Lieutenant Mark Wallace from Leonardtown in Maryland, who was captured by the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army near the Chosin Reservoir, in November 1950, after being severely injured by an artillery shell.

Unfortunately for him, he was in the coma for almost four years after his capture, and was therefore not eligible to be returned home at the signature of the cease fire.

He only regained consciousness in 1955, and spent the last 60 years of his life as a prisoner of war, living in terrible conditions in both military prisons and forced labor camps.

Maybe give it a Snope Norman?

Certainly is incredible to think that anyone could survive 60 years in an NK labour camp.

The O'Conner family four doors down from my home in Manchester gave their 19 year old son for this American war. Their obsession with the Communists amounted to what ? and what did the Commies ever do to them?, the Americans I mean. The communists south of the 38th Parallel became capitalists and everyone was happy.

One might ask what did DAESH do to you. Does that mean we should not fight them?

And before NK invaded South Korea in 1950 the South was already capitalist.

Truman was well acquainted with the domino theory - would we have wished an NK regime on the South or any of its neighbours?

Heads will roll.

“NK military failures like this are usually followed with executions by RPGs. Could be a very noisy morning.”

“Looks like there will be a few vacancies in the missile launch department. Apply through the olive green doors, just past the freshly-dug graves.”

North Korea orders terror strikes on South Koreans

“North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ordered terror attacks against South Koreans living overseas, a high-ranking official in Seoul said Tuesday, adding that his intelligence organizations are dispatching agents to China and Southeast Asian countries.

Kim was said to have ordered the terrorist attacks in retaliation for the defection en masse of a group of North Korean restaurant workers to the South earlier this year. He ordered agents who specialize in such acts of terror to Shenyang and Dandong in China’s northeastern Liaoning Province, as well as Southeast Asian countries that have maintained diplomatic relations with Pyongyang, such as Laos and Cambodia, which are also key routes for North Koreans to defect through, according to this official…
