Will North Korea Play Nuclear Hide-and-Seek with Trump?

“In what would be the most accelerated disarmament program in history, the Trump Administration hopes to dismantle North Korea’s nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, and its ballistic missiles, within a year, John Bolton, the national-security adviser, claimed on “Face the Nation” on Sunday. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is scheduled to make his third trip to Pyongyang this week, to begin the process, which he told Congress needed to be wrapped up by the end of President Trump’s current term—in two and a half years. Even that time frame is ambitiously fast, given the scope of Kim Jong Un’s vast arsenal and growing indications that North Korea hopes to hide at least some of its weaponry. It has multiple secret facilities, as the Washington Post reported over the weekend. U.S. intelligence is tracking the secret underground Kangsong facility, which may be able to produce twice as much enriched uranium as Yongbyon can. Yongbyon is the country’s only declared nuclear-production site…

C'mon Jaycey, do you not listen to what Trumpty says, he said NK was no longer a nuclear threat, and the fact that experts said that it could take up to 15 years to completely verify the destruction and dismantling of missiles and nuclear sites and assets, I am sure that we should all believe Bolton when he says it can be done in 1 year.

Trumpty and Kim get on so well I cannot see that any of the contrary can be true.

North Korea Slams U.S. ‘Gangster-Like’ Demands at Nuclear Talks

“North Korea slammed the U.S. position on denuclearization during two days of meetings with Mike Pompeo as “gangster-like,” hours after the secretary of state cited “good-faith negotiations” with his counterparts in Pyongyang…

The assessment, so different to one Pompeo had offered reporters earlier, suggested — as Korea analysts had feared — that the two sides remain far apart on their goals for talks on denuclearization despite Pompeo’s past comments and Trump’s frequent upbeat remarks after his June meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore…”

Re: North Korea

In private, Trump vents frustration over lack of progress on North Korea

When he emerged from his summit with Kim Jong Un last month, President Trump tri¬umphantly declared that North Korea no longer posed a nuclear threat and that one of the world’s most intractable geopolitical crises had been “largely solved.”

But in the days and weeks since then, U.S. negotiators have faced stiff resistance from a North Korean team practiced in the art of delay and obfuscation.

Diplomats say the North Koreans have canceled follow-up meetings, demanded more money and failed to maintain basic communications, even as the once-isolated regime’s engagements with China and South Korea flourish.

Meanwhile, a missile-engine testing facility that Trump said would be destroyed remains intact, and U.S. intelligence officials say Pyongyang is working to conceal key aspects of its nuclear program...

Re: North Korea

Despite a North Korean pledge to denuclearize, U.S. spy satellites are picking up signs of a different story, casting more suspicion over Kim Jong Un’s intentions.

Re: North Korea

DPRK rejects proposals of the US for denuclearization

"The authorities of DPRK rejected all proposals of the USA for denuclearization. CNN claims this with a reference to diplomatical sources.

‘The US have and will continue making specific suggestions on the start and achievement of endpoint fully confirmed denuclearization,’ reads the message.

Pyongyang rejected the proposals thought and called them a gang.

As the outlet reports, there were no time frame, any concrete promises or control points regarding the denuclearization in the short document after the meeting of American President Donald Trump and the Leader of DPRK Kim Jong-un, allowing both sides to interpret it as they wished.

North Korea insists that first, the USA has to dismiss all sanctions against the country, and also to sign a peace treaty. After that Pyongyang will take steps for denuclearization...

Re: North Korea

Will the US ever denuclearize? They are the only one's to have used them so could be argued they are more of a threat.
