Re: BREXIT - What now ?

Short term pain, long term gain............

Read a comment today where Brexit was being partly blamed for the announced closures of some M&S stores...............yeah as if !!

Well I must pull you up on that one Alva

Iceland gets crappy weather and it's not in EU

My new home Espana is a senior member of the EU and the weather is gorgeous

I think I have proved my case

Brexit IS to blame for bad weather

Blame?

Well if we accept that many politicians are for self serving interests, how long do we think they've been like that? When we work that out the next question might just be, does that self serving attitude not apply to politicians from the other 27? Of course it would.

Politicians, past & present have signed "the 28" up to God knows what, rings in their noses, there was small print even for the small print.

The attitude of, "that wasn't on the referendum paper", begs the question, what was on the Treaty papers that nations were signed up for without their citizens knowledge?

I think the EU is that corrupt that it doesn't even realise it, why? Because that's just how it rolls..........The "straight people" there & no doubt there are aplenty, keep quiet because they're on a good number. Just get their heads down, clock in, clock out & pick the wage up. Happens in every walk of life.

Watch & wait, a Eurosceptic Italian government coming to power, pledges of removing 500,000 migrants, kicking austerity into the long grass, country & banks up to their necks in debt. Remember when Greece was on the brink what the comments where? "The EU can cope with Greece but if this was the likes of Italy, there would be a major problem". Maybe the EU has learnt about their treatment of Greece because Italy is a different ball game.

Just been reading about numerous Western companies already pulling out of Iran.........big names at that. Yet it was only a few days back that EU leaders were giving it, "we will defy Trump on this, we will continue to trade with Iran", I think they should've had a word with the companies operating in there first.
Yesterday the French Finance Minister said, "the EU should compensate companies that have to back away from Iran", of course France has juicy contracts there.
Plenty of bark but no teeth, they must be feeling suicidal over Trumps actions but hey.........everyone took the p*ss out of him prior to his election. Daily we are starting to see how powerful super powers can be, military & financial........the EU has a long way to go IMO.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

The world is changing rapidly

Part of that is down to populist movements being seen as more representative of the ordinary person

Obviously the old guard within elitist politics is rattled and need to tighten their grip

I have consistently stated I am neither a remainer nor Brexiteer.

For my own political aspirations the ideal scenario would have been Brexit traded off for the North being returned to Ireland and then Ireland in turn seeking to secure it's own destiny.

But hey that's sure not how things are gonna turn out

Makes me wonder if you become a "populist" just because you disagree with mainstream that's being spoon fed to everyone. Feels like no longer should anyone of us object to anything.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

Well it depends on how you look at it

Are you a populist because you are genuinely reflecting what Joe 6 pack wants addressed- and which has been consistently ignored by mainstream politics.......

I'm a bloke who weighs things up & makes a decision, always been like that in my life. If your self employed or employ people, you stand or fall by those decisions. Change/reform in my life has had to be instant, not mulled over for the next 10 years...........I would've lost my house several times over if I didn't.

Lobbyists were estimated to have spent around 29 million Euros in Brussels last year & that's only by those who volunteered their spending. I'm sure politicians are now clued up how to handle the bungs, diamonds, gold, Rolex etc, I mean to be fair............its not that hard to tell someone how you want paying.
