For about the last 6/7 months Ive been going in & out of Land Rover watching my motor being built, had it delivered a few weeks back. Plenty of conversations about "the car industry" I have listened to all the moans, worries, blame, the workers including management had concerns & yes Brexit was one of them. The biggest issue by far was the self inflicted damage the industry has done to itself. Not forgetting that the German government knew what was going on AND even more worrying was that the EU Commission itself knew & chose to ignore the scientific reports and just kept quiet.
Matters not how good diesel engines are now purported to be, the damage is done. What's more, the industry has still NOT got the emission levels down to the original numbers, behind closed door talks have let them off the hook again.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

No-deal Brexit would put thousands of UK jobs at risk.

A no-deal Brexit would have profound economic consequences with GDP shrinking by up to 8%, putting thousands of jobs at risk, the Confederation of British Industry is to warn.

The business body is urging MPs to back Theresa May’s deal, describing it as a “solution” businesses can work with as it delivers a transition period and avoids a “hugely damaging cliff edge”.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

Some dirty dealing here?

EU allowed Slovakia to give a huge payment to move JLR. We should deduct that from the divorce settlement.

This is how big business works & the Commission are in the thick of it. I think Italy has now sussed out & highlighted to the public how it works. France allowed to break the EUs fiscal policy but not the Italians.
Shock & horror predicted for the May MEP elections, more Far right MEPs to be elected & whose fault will that be?
Knock the UK by all means but one things for sure, we DO NOT have Far right MPs in our Parliament.

@35+chips
Thanks.
I wouldn't dream of knocking the UK, the longer I live and travel the more I appreciate our unique history, culture and freedoms. We certainly don't want any far right nitwits in our Parliament, there are enough outside it judging by recent events.

Its going to be a case of the EU reaps what its sown. There's another Far right party that's just become a "king maker" in a region of Spain, only got a whisper on the UKs mainstream media outlets.
Totally agree, I've been to a few places & the UK more than stands its place in this world.
I've yet to have anyone who wants to remain in the EU name me a few member states who are happy & actually doing well.

I noted yesterday that Ms Merkel visited Greece & there were protests in Athens, the gall of some politicians, did she expect German flags to be everywhere.........The only attribute politicians have is.........being thick skinned, tear ducts removed at birth I reckon.

And plenty of security to protect them from what joe public experiences on a day to day basis. Hopefully one day their protective bubble will burst!
