Strange how all of a sudden leaks seem to be the order of the day..........

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

Chips, I said it many posts ago but will repeat it.
We elect MP's to govern on our collective behalf and the government of the day signs up to treaties etc as they see fit.
Hence the great British public does not get an opportunity to have a referendum on every treaty or agreement.
Completely unworkable,as demonstrated by the debacle we have been mired in for the past 3 years.
The Government of the day makes the decision not avoid the hard decisions by running to the voters every time.
52/48 unfinished business as the Brexiteers champion shouted.
I see he is still taking the money, at least Sin Fein had the principles, when voted in to a Parliament they did not believe in to refuse the salary and take up their seats. Not so the childish MEP's who turned their backs, what a pathetic bunch.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

Perhaps we will see them turn their backs on the salaries, expenses and perks of the Institution they say they hate, sometime soon.

I totally agree but what have we just witnessed (still are) over the competence of our MPs & outgoing PMs? Why should we expect yesteryear MPs/PMs to be any more on the ball than the clutch we have at the moment............
Would anyone of us expect a yesteryear PM to say, "I dropped a right bollock signing the UK up to that"?
We put our trust in MPs, said MPs then passed that trust to the people via a referendum.
I never knew details of any Treaties & I doubt if any of us did, I suppose it would be "the public wouldn't understand", the problem with that response is, many of the public would understand. I wonder how many MPs past & present saw/see THEIR ultimate goal being to end up in Brussels itself.
We all agree that many of them are self serving, so how far are they prepared to go. Its no secret that Blair had his eye on the Presidency seat (probably still has).
