He was giving discourse on a Religion , not a race or people.

How many " groups of people " worldwide have adherents of the Muslim faith ?

Not a race issue is it ?

I find this all rather confusing.

In an earlier post a person making derogatory remarks about the Irish was deemed racist. Are the Irish a ‘race’?

But we digress, sorry

Yes, indeed.

"Cllr Ken Bamber, who sits on Medway Council in Kent, was chatting with Brian Kelly, a Unison rep, when he made the joke.
He told Mr Kelly: “A man walked into a Dublin bar and saw a friend sitting with an empty glass. 'Paddy can I buy you another', he asked, to which Paddy replied - 'now what would I be wanting with another empty glass?"
Mr Kelly, who was born in Ireland, said Cllr Barber had used the word “Paddy” offensively and was being “racist with intent”.

Mr Kelly is believed to have been awarded several thousand pounds compensation, some from the council and some from Cllr Bamber.
"

Councillor ordered to pay compensation for 'racist' joke - Telegraph

The above shows how politically correct the UK has become. And that case was 7 years ago. Can you imagine what it is like now?

Any wonder why the authorities are paralysed into inaction due to political correctness?

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

This PC Crap is undermining basic freedoms and the compensation culture means it is spreading more and more.

McDonald's apologises for 'offensive' television advert - BBC News

I couldn't believe some of the things said in that article. Did the children not live in the real world, watch tv dramas?

The word "opinionated" is on borrowed time in the Oxford Dictionary.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

What of the future when people are being mollycoddled, when everything has to be someones fault so self culpability is usually overlooked and a scapegoat found.

I don't know know what laws will be repealed on Brexit but I have a feeling the PC Brigade will win through and the basic tenets of freedom of speech that I was brought up on will slowly be eroded through fear.

Yes, I/we were brought up to know "the right of free speech" was different to the right to insult" but now a lot of things said quite innocently and with no malice intended are being twisted and innocents branded or punished.

We see children's play areas being removed because of insurance problems, parents not allowed to take cameras into sports days or other venues.

I shudder to think where teacher recruitment will end up in a few years, when they are constantly under threat of being wrongly accused of racism or whatever and the order of the day is suspension first, ask questions later. Some pupils are quite aware of this and feel justified in being unruly and disruptive. Only recently a parent took a teacher to task for what I would term an innocent tap on the back of the head, but it looks like the teachers career is washed up.

Marmaris has just been in the headlines because of bogus claims by holidaymakers.

I don't believe Brexit will help because those laws that people use to wrongly to attack others will remain, and those that are compensated will continue to smirk and think job well done.

Re: BREXIT - What now ?

I think society has just dramatically evolved and that's nothing to do with being pc or not

I find it depressing for instance that were I to come across an " alone" frightened crying child in the street or a mall I would be most reticent to obey my instinct to go over to him/her to help for fear I be mistaken for a weirdo

I would suggest 30 years ago we would not have viewed such a situation in the same manner
