Put all the despots in this World in a room together with their families. Let one of those big bombs off nearby..Don't let them out until they agree on a peaceful solution to our World problems and how we should all get along together.

Trump, Putin, Assad, NK bloke, Erdogan to mention just a few. Stupid macho boys with toys showing off their military hardware or their Authoritarian power .
Fed up of them all .

Re: Syria

If ever there was a country that needed something to cheer about, its Syria. A play off spot & hopefully a place for them at the World Cup in Russia.

Good book IMO to read 'line in the sand'..James Barr.

Very readable and exposes all the underhand tactics of both the British and French during that period.

Feels like it's happening again with different players.

Re: Syria

Syrian Kurdish fighters previously armed by the United States are no longer part of the battle against ISIL and the US-led coalition doesn't support them, a US military official said on Tuesday.

The comments were the first indication by American officials that US-led forces may not intervene if Turkey follows through with a promised cross-border military operation to wipe out the group known as YPG, which controls the Afrin region along Turkey's southern border.

"Currently, there are approximately 230 individuals training in the BSF's inaugural class, with the goal of a final force size of approximately 30,000," he said.

Dillon said efforts were taken to ensure individuals served in areas close to their homes.

"Therefore, the ethnic composition of the force will be relative to the areas in which they serve.

"More Kurds will serve in the areas in northern Syria. More Arabs will serve in the areas along the Euphrates River Valley and along the border with Iraq to the south," Dillon said.

Kurdish fighters' involvement
Around half of the new force will reportedly be recruited from the SDF, an umbrella group of fighters dominated by the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in control of the northeast of Syria.

The US views the YPG as a highly effective fighting force against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) and President Donald Trump decided to arm YPG fighters earlier this year.

The US arms shipments began before the launch of a months-long offensive to remove ISIL from the Syrian city of Raqqa, its self-declared capital. The YPG played a prominent role in the eventual defeat of the group later in 2017.
