Re: NHS & Social Care in Crisis!

I thought that a person that lives with an elderly parent or cares for elderly parent they claim carers allowance so isn't it more likely that those in a care home loose out more at present than they would under the new rules to be.

I agree with MH that basically a garden shed is worth more than 100k in most areas, but without knowing the stats on how many "in care" and "in home" suffer with such a low threshold, as at present, it is hard.

Both of my parents died a few years ago, so to be honest I have never given it much thought.

I thought the media would have rolled out some stats by now showing a comparison, but I have not seen.

Not everybody who cares for an elderly parent/person claims a carer's allowance Norman, I'm not sure how many do but I think it is a surprisingly low number, neither my sister or I ever thought of claiming an allowance.... Stupid maybe in hindsight, but to us she was our Mum, no thanks or payment was necessary or wanted.

If the Tory Manifesto is enforced, in the future, receivers of 'care' whether at home or in a care facility will be worse off financially as everything they own (liquid or immovable) is taken into the equation of payments from the start of their Needs.

I too have thought, hoped, that MSM would have "rolled out some stats" on this, but it's all quiet on the home front again..............

TLF has several members who have suffered at the hands of Local Councils &/or Social Services people when loved ones Health deteriorates, especially if it's due to Dementia or Alzheimer's.... The same Criteria doesn't apply if it's a 'Physical Body' disease that incapacitates them..... It's a Total disgrace! and now TM wants to Capitalise on their suffering......

Of course this is old news " David Cameron " at question time.

'Death tax' to fund care of elderly not ruled out by Gordon Brown - Telegraph

Cameron asked Brown fiscal questions , Brown declined to answer as it was " Prime Ministers Question time " , the time a PM own up and comes clean as it was once upon a time.

Brown is no longer a Minister , Labour has costed it's plans fully , May just points to her " Magic Money Tree " as she plans the further impoverish the working people of this country.

Clutching at straws as usual , one day you will learn to comprehend that which you actually attempt to mislead and confuse with , old , old news... and no longer relevant.

Bit like you ESB .

Maybe the Labourites have short term memory loss as the Death Tax was still on the table in 2015

Old , Old news ESB , Andy Burnham is no longer an MP , he is the Manchester Mayor , as such he has no power or intention of carrying out the Conservatives dirty work.

Worth repeating

Might be able to blame the Conservatives for just about everything but there's one thing nobody can blame them for & thats Labours downfall............self inflicted.
