Very probably. My bet too. He is far more hard-line right-wing than Marine Le Pen who disappointed many on her softening of the party line. So a real anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, pro Catholic schooling President - oh joy....

Re: French Elections

“As a politician for 30 years, have you once heard Francois Fillon suggest that the right to interrupt pregnancies should be renounced?” Fillon said. “Haven’t I, over 30 years, voted for every law that has given women access to abortion? The response to your question is that obviously I won’t touch anything in this domain.”

It's a gamble for the French for sure.
He claims his voting record supports the idea of separating church and state.
It would be nice to see France become France again and not this washed out European franchise state.
I like France, I like Spain, I like Germany (aside from Merkel) I like countries having an identity, it's surely one of the things that attracted most of us to Turkey; I think the EU has been a great trial in multiculturalism and may have worked under different management, but lets face it, it's been hurriedly expanded for maximum capital gain for huge corporations. It has not been 'to benefit the little people'.

I'm excited by these changes and retain hope that with better regulation and smaller steps, multiculturalism and free movement will work in the future.

No, of course he obeys the law but that his vote proves he believes in it (as in shares the same ideology or principle).

Re: French Elections

Unfortunately agree Francois Fillon may win, from the Gaullist right .... meant to be a personal friend of Putin so as expected pro Russian.... anti Russian sanctions Pro-Assad in Syria, has a strong religious bent which will be a challenge to France’s secular traditions he has a history of both anti-abortion .. against same sex marriage and same sex adoption a wholly anti-LGBTQ stance . He seems to have mirrored Le Pen on most of his policies............including anti-multiculturalism, agreed with the banning of “burkinis ” .

Re: French Elections

Seems it ok to vent wrath on anyone but a people elected person from the right .....parliament's maybe ... should give up having an opposition, as they may vent thier wrath on a people elected government ..... but no opposition..... no wrath but that would be tantamount to Fascism or Authoritarian oh then again

I think the French just might take on-board the Paris & Nice events when it comes to elections because I know I certainly would. Mind you if they've forgotten those incidents maybe they might remember the 85 year old priest who had his throat cut in a church........ that was real news, nothing fake there, nor can they blame those events on Russia.
