Re: Osborne

He should be sacked as an MP, all these jobs outside his occupation as an MP must be taking up the majority of his time. Any other occupation he would have had the old "Spanish Archer" by now.

He's pulled himself a platform for his own ends. Listening to Andrew O'Neil this morning he said, "being an editor is a twelve hour a day job & hes doing it for four days a week".................It stinks. Funny thing is, the Standard is owned by Russians FFS, I thought they were the enemy. So it works like this, all hell lets loose at the thought of Trumps involvement with Russia & here we have a serving Conservative, ex Chancellor doing it openly.

Re: Osborne

Funny really, the Deputy Governor of the BOE had to resign a few days ago because she hadn't declared that her brother holds a rather high position in Barclays Bank, which of course the BOE regulates & was a conflict of interests!

Now, here we have Gideon with yet another job..... He's already employed by Northern Rock, who benefitted Big time from Osborne's change to the Pension rules when he was Chancellor. Why didn't the ever useless Kathryn Hudson (Chair, Parliamentary Scrutiny committee) see any conflict of interest in this appointment? It reeks of Insider Trading (imo) & would, in the normal world result in being dismissed!

Now he's got his snout in another trough, a very demanding position that Will take up a major part of his working days, unless he's going to get a ghost writer to do the graft for him............. Wonder how much he'll get paid for this job?

We've had the government banging on about MP's cutting back on 'second jobs', are they really going to let Gideon make them look like total the spineless Pr&ts they are.... How is being the Editor of a Daily newspaper Not a conflict of interest to his position as an MP? well, that is when he can spare a couple of his Very valuable hours to drop in & say hello to his constituents

It's an affront to his Constituency & the standards we have every right to Expect from our MP's! Lots of talk about him using his new platform to undermine May, use the position as a springboard to Con Leadership challenge around the time of the next GE?

Gideon's constituency is probably going to be chopped in the next boundary changes as will Corbyn's, Bojo's, Cleggy's & a few others.....

Professional Journalists aren't too chuffed about his appointment either!

https://www.theguardian.com/politics...ode-of-conduct

His new boss......

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evgeny_Lebedev

"In her preliminary draft of the Code of Conduct – the first in four years – Ms Hudson suggested adding a new rule stating that elected members must ensure external work “does not conflict" with their responsibilities as an MP."

One of our MPs could lose £74,000-a-year job (for 39 days work a year) ? what do you think? | Grimsby Telegraph

Boundary changes: How will the review affect YOUR constituency? | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

Can MP's Not see the Damage this is doing to our Democracy & their Reputations!!! Well, what little is left of them......

Re: Osborne

Sorry for B-2-B folks.

Has Osborne queered their pitch? A step too far even for (ACOBA), the body that says yeah or nay to requests from former, Ministers, MP's & Civil Servants to take up positions in the Private sector.

On the face of it one would think, of course they'll take action & prevent Osborne from 'flipping a finger' at them, parliament & us taxpayers........... But, who knew... that to date: They Have Never Blocked any Request'......

In this 2011 article in the Telegraph about the dangers of professional Lobbying, provides these facts on ACOBA's performance - Snouts in the trough 100 - Taxpayer 0................

"According to the annual reports of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (Acoba), it has considered 944 applications for private sector jobs by former top mandarins and ministers since 1996. Of these, 412 were approved with conditions, and 532 – 56 per cent – were approved unconditionally. None was rejected.

Among the most heavily criticised deals of recent years is that for the Royal Navy’s two new aircraft carriers, which will cost taxpayers more than £6 billion, even though one will be immediately mothballed and the other will carry no aircraft until 2020. At least four top military officers and ministers, including the heads of the Navy and the RAF, a former vice-chief of defence staff and the former minister for defence equipment, Ann Taylor, have since joined companies with an interest in the aircraft-carrier project. Their appointments were approved by Acoba."

Spur's, Osborne's understanding of 'Zero Hours contract', must be 'No Hours Worked' for Mega bucks! The games afoot, as Sherlock would say...........

Yep, you're right Martin but, the other 2 treated us exactly the same (& will do again...) when they get the chance

Time for a Very thorough overhaul & PR - It's the Only way None of them will get overall control.

Good on you & Linsey, I just donate what I can regularly.

To me this goes to show the contempt MPs have towards the general public, they see it all as one big joke.
