Turkish Referendum

https://widerimage.reuters.com/story...ly-two-options

I hadn't realised how close a call this referendum could be according to some polls.

Something like 51% in Erdogan's favour???

Another country it appears whereby a Referendum divides and polarises the people.

And it could be the diaspora in Europe which could see Mr Erdogan home to victory. I watched a programme last week which evidenced very strong pro Erdogan support in Holland and Germany for a YES vote. Anyone in support of a NO vote was categorised a " traitor to the motherland". Much of this support comprises 2nd and 3rd generation expat voters which made me think how influential they could be to the end result - and voting for a system which bears no relevance to their day to day lives in Europe.

Re: Turkish Referendum

Erdogan's referendum is his referendum,............. and he wouldn't go into to it without a guaranteed win , this is for show ................. it will be YES however he engineers it .

There has been so many infractions of electoral rules. and the board who is meant to oversee this YSK Supreme Electoral Council( Yüksek Seçim Kurulu) are ignored by the ruling party AKP ..... just one small e.g.

According to the decision of the Supreme Election Board (YSK) dated 15 February 2017, the use of public vehicles in the referendum propaganda is prohibited. First of all, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) of the AKP ignored the ban and posted "Yes" flags and flags to the streets and vehicles. Then AKP Tokat did the same ..........................

The infractions range through from the Media Time ... to opposition rallies banned , to Govt policies ..... its been huge and prolific throughout the referendum......So a little thing like a majority NO ..... isn't going to stop a YES win .

IMO what people vote will have no effect on the "result".

Re: Turkish Referendum

I know very little about Turkish politics but, as I see it Mr. E. is jailing the intelligentsia i.e. journalists/lecturers and some in the medical profession. That's precisely how Adolf Hitler started before his "final solution". Time to be afraid, I think.

Re: Turkish Referendum

The outcome matters not on the number of votes , it is dependent entirely upon who counts the votes.

Re: Turkish Referendum

Themis Research Inc. According to Koray Yücel's partner, the results of the survey made by the company between April 8th and 12th are as follows:

THE WHOLE TURKEY

According to Themis' survey; The results in Turkey as a whole (after the undecided) are as follows:

YES: 46.1%
NO: 53.9%
The no's have been running ahead throughout the campaign despite the setbacks, intimidation ,slander and obstacles put in the way , even within his own party ,but this is no longer a Democracy but a show ...I would love to be proved wrong ... but this is reality ....

But this will not be the result you see.................... As steve says its the people who have the control of the Counting will determine the results .... Erdogan will get his YES unfortunately ...... we will be left with a more divisive country ruled by one man .... who is anti -WEST

Are you suggesting Bal that Turkey is rotten from the core and at the core?

Depends on your definition of core Widde , if you mean from the Prez through to the ruling parties control over the campaigns... yes, but they are not the country ................
