There always seemed to be something fishy about this business. I hope the UK authorities donīt make idiots of themselves by overreacting in trying to save face. I think Ecuador is a nice place to live; I wonder if he will be on the next plane out.

Mmmm could be one of those, we need to make an emergency landing on US soil :-)
Yeah its been an expensive exercise but protocol has not been broken over sanctuary in an embassy............it could've been a Brit holding out. He has broke bail conditions in the UK, will they proceed on that score? The world & Wiki are watching.

Agreed its been iffy from the off.

Re: Julian Assange investigsion dropped

By the accounts I have read there have been at least four armed police outside 24/7 - hence the stupendous bill. I wonder how many other bail-jumpers get such attention?

I note that Bradley Manning was released this week; Nigel Farrage visited Assange last week; Sweden closes the case suddenly. Is it all linked?

Re: Julian Assange investigsion dropped

Good points Ian , curious indeed , you never know.

the oddest point for me was that JA was going to be arrested and deported to a friendly ( to us ) country to face an allegation he had already been cleard of , and allowed to freely leave that country.

He was also facing arrest and deportation to face an allegation that is not an offence in the UK.

the statement given by the woman making the rape allegation fruther refused to sign , validate or give evidence of her " statement "....

A far from edifying conundrum that has cost the UK many millions , and cost us goodwill in South America.
