Re: Turkey to outlaw smoking in private cars

Cigarette packets have also become narrower. I cover those awful pictures with cards that have a nice pic on. My same cards have had to be cut slimmer to accommodate the new size packets. Would never of realised had it not been for that.
I really do get fed up with all this banning smoking. At least I can drive after a cigarette. Plus when I think of all those exhaust pipes and factories pumping out chemicals I don't think the odd puff on a ciggy makes a lot of difference. Maybe they should ban alcohol from being consumed inside a car or a bar. I don't like the smell of alcohol or people's behaviour when over consumed but that seems to be ok. Even in Turkey.

Re: Turkey to outlaw smoking in private cars

Turkey suffers such high levels of respiratory disease , and we know why , i feel so sorry for the kids , sitting in restaurant , mum , dad granparents puffing cancer inducing chemicals all over the poor children.

turkey is in the dark ages regarding public smoking , they also pay a high price.

Smoking in private , by consenting adults in their own homes is fine , but they must be made to only do it there , for the good of everyone , and to prevent the filth they deposit in their surroundings.

Re: Turkey to outlaw smoking in private cars

Turkey is so much better than when I first came in terms of smoking. It was allowed on the buses, on planes, in restaurants, it was compulsory to smoke in government offices. Of course in winter they did not open the windows either. Let's be happy with the improvements made so far.
I think there is another new law coming out banning smoking from the entrance/exits of public buildings/airports etc for at least 15m. Smoking will not be allowed in outside spaces with a cover, not matter whether they are fully enclosed or not.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Re: Turkey to outlaw smoking in private cars

Ok so some of you are anti smoking. That's ok but I'm sure the anti smokers have habits of some kind or another that maybe I wouldn't be keen on but live and let live and consider others at all times.
When I first came to Turkey almost 20 odd years ago I was shocked to find out that they had millions of people suffering with Diabetes 1 and 2. Thyroid under active and over active. Heart problems of all types. Angina to, and the list goes on. My Turkish friends think it has more to do with food production. I was astounded because I thought they had a superb diet. Mostly they do of course but the antibiotics in meat is out of control as it is in many parts of Europe including Britain. We think this is making people ill and choose to eat less of meat and particularly processed foods and processed meats. But like many people I think moderation may help whether it's coffee drinking or alcohol or smoking or meat eating.

Smoking is addictive Shash. This is why you are attempting to make a case for the indefensible ----------- you are hooked. Not only is it addictive but it is a dirty habit which impacts on everyone in your environment. The problem is that smokers don't seem to appreciate the hygiene aspect of the habit and think nothing of stubbing a cigeratte out and handling food without washing hands. Now I haven't even started on the health issues.

I wonder if smokers realize they stink! If someone stands less than a metre away from me I can generally smell them if they are a smoker.... yuk!!

Re: Turkey to outlaw smoking in private cars

I am sure that we all poison the environment in one way or another. Anyone take a drive today? hop on a bus? Use a plastic bag? Switch on a kettle?
