EHIC: Will your EU health card work after Brexit?

The claim: EU citizens in the UK, and UK citizens in the EU, will be able to use their European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) after the UK leaves the EU.
Reality Check verdict: If you are already living in another EU country on the day the UK leaves the bloc, that is correct, your EHIC will continue to work.
After that date, for EU citizens wishing to travel to the UK or UK citizens wishing to travel to the EU, it is unclear about what will happen because no deal has yet been reached.
At a press conference with the EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier, the Brexit Secretary David Davis talked about the progress that had been made on citizens' rights in the latest round of Brexit talks.
He said both the EU and the UK had agreed to protect existing EHIC arrangements.

Re: New NHS rules for foreign visitors

A few years ago our son was in Germany and got knocked down by a hit n run driver. Luckily he had only a broken shoulder blade. Was treated in a local hospital BUT had to pay. Was given some medical documents etc to take back to the U.K. to claim the cost of his treatment. So, in the event, he did get reimbursed BUT paid for by our NHS ! Please don't think that treatment abroad is reciprocal, it isn't !

Re: New NHS rules for foreign visitors

Makes me glad that am I fully paid up member of the Turkish national health system which is brilliant compared to the NHS. When I Travel back to the UK now about 2or 3 times a year I always buy private health insurance from TR to cover the travel period its not expensive, also covers missed flights etc.
