Protect Britain's Fishing Waters - Petition

Protect Britain's Fishing rights/Water post-Brexit.

"On the UK's withdrawal from the EU, Britain can leave the CFP and reclaim its 200-mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ) under international law (UNCLOS).

Adopting UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) would allow total UK control over access; the setting of quota; fisheries management, and fishing systems; rather than blindly following the terms dictated to us by Brussels.

However, adopting the CFP into UK law for transitional purposes not only allows continued access for EU vessels into UK waters but also opens the possibility for the EU taking legal action, claiming, 'continuity of rights.'
Therefore, if we are to have a fishing industry post-Brexit, keeping the terms of the CFP in place is not an option!"

Re: Protect Britain's Fishing Waters - Petition

We sold so many licenses for fishing in our waters that many British fleets were finished . The boats and crews no longer exist.

Until the license terms finish they cannot be rescinded , commercial contracts are non negotiable retrospectively .

when the licenses come up for renewal they will be open to the highest bidder .

British waters will continue to be for hire to all comers with the deepest pockets .

Re: Protect Britain's Fishing Waters - Petition

Thanks for your support ladies

There is still a very strong Fishing fraternity in the UK, albeit much depleted by the take-over of the EU. Not only will regaining our waters provide much needed jobs, it will boost local communities & breath new life into them.

It will also boost our general economy & provide very lucrative export revenues.

Personally I really hope that the Super Trawlers that use the very destructive Pulse method of catching can be at least much reduced, ideally eliminated!

Re: Protect Britain's Fishing Waters - Petition

Steve, I do hope you are wrong re' licences going to the highest bidder !! We need to recover our legitimate fishing grounds that were recklessly given away !

Re: Protect Britain's Fishing Waters - Petition

The government oversee the awarding of licenses , which is an open bidding process . Winning a license is supposed to be more than a financial matter , successive governments have always gone for the highest bidder .

I would not expect that the next time around it would be any different Hils .

Many license holders were clever enough to invest in dock , port and harbourside facilities , these sometimes foreign owners would hold an advantage if licenses were withheld contrary to the bidding process .

Things are not always as you are told, Michael Gove added his name to the Brexit Lying list some time ago.
