Iím sorry I canít answer as I canít figure out what it is youíre asking. The CTA exists only between the UK and Ireland where citizens from either state do not need a passport to travel between one and the other, and basically are treated in the same way as native citizens. The CTA has been in existence sine the 1940ís and predates the accession of both countries in 1973. There was talk of it being against the rules of the EU in relation to free movement but nobody has ever bothered about it before.

Thanks, that was what i was wondering - whether the E.U rules would have superseded U.K /Irish law, or are they separate. Was wondering whether this may change with Brexit. May go back to how things were pre 1973.

Well they say we should be alright with the CTA - I wouldn’t bet on it though and as for pre 1973- I remember those times - and not fondly!
