Re: Environmental concerns

In Tokyo many prefer to overnight in business hotels rather than make a 3 hour journey to and from work.

These ‘hotels’ are little more than small steel cubicles and in brushing your teeth you’re likely to bang your elbow against the door so these 2-in-1 loos are great space savers as well as economizing on water consumption!

Re: Environmental concerns

This is really obscene.

The United States creates more planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions through its defense operations alone than industrialized countries such as Sweden and Portugal, researchers said on Wednesday.

I don't think the powers that be in the U.S. are too concerned about the environment world wide I.B. so long as it's O.K. in the U.S.

Re: Environmental concerns

I watched a classic interview a few weeks back. Andrew Neil with Ed Miliband. It was about the environment, climate change etc. Miliband was saying how urgent it was & that we need do something, Neil agreed. Then as per Neil dropped the bombshell, he asked why Miliband had clocked up 19,000 air miles within a year? Stutter & splutter followed.........

Re: Environmental concerns

Fossil fuels produce less than half of UK electricity for first time ...

Zero-carbon energy sources are poised to overtake fossil fuels as the UK’s largest electricity source over a full calendar year.

This year will be the first that fossil fuels make up less than half of the electricity generated, according to National Grid, following a dramatic decline in coal-fired power and rising renewable energy.

Instead, UK homes and businesses will rely more on clean electricity generated by wind farms, solar panels, hydro power and nuclear power reactors...

Re: Environmental concerns

Slash and burn...

Deforestation of the Brazilian Amazon climbed a whopping 88% this June compared to last year, despite decades of “save the rainforest” campaigning.

Environmentalists blame President Bolsonaro.
