Re: The Daily Hail, it dont like it up em!.

I can understand people's views on DM and agree on most.

I suppose my suspicion lies with how genuine this simple no real loss move by Virgin is, and the real motives and conviction behind it. From someone who is a famous self-brand promoter as Branson. This move guaranteed column inches and cost little.

In his company statement, it mentions he finds the DM isn't incompatible with his beliefs, which is the same as many, myself included, but I find Branson's Blairite brand of Socialism and beliefs suspect, also incompatible with me, and what I believe to be real Socialism.

I see his profiting and tendering for more of the lucrative franchise's in the privatized railways is an obstacle for a Socialist re-introduction to a Nationalised railway, that could give a better service standard/pricing along the lines of the Nationalised railways of Germany and France etc

Maybe if he had dropped the tendering and taken a loss, instead of a no loss gesture. I would admire his stance taken for his beliefs.

I don't see how he can reconcile with what I see as a basic tenet of Socialism the free at the point of care NHS and free of privatisation with Branson making huge profits and tendering for lucrative contracts for his Virgin Care with the profits from these lucrative NHS deals he has set up tax havens as part of Virgin Cares corporate structure, again depriving the taxpayers of revenue.

So maybe I have a problem with the man and his beliefs. so question his simple gestures motives.

Virgin mobile phones blocked from viewing the DM, now that would make a statement & quite possibly hit his own business interests.

Honestly, I dont think Branson would play any role in the day to day decisions of Virgin Trains, cannot see him sitting in on the "choosing what newspapers we sell meeting", and, as I pointed out before, he is partnered by Stagecoach who aren''t mentioned at all in criticism of Virgins decisions, Why's that then do you reckon?

I did say it was a personal opinion Mollag happy for you to disagree or debate.

Richard Branson is the larger than life face of his brand Virgin, a regular at keeping him as the brand in the media spotlight, as seen only yesterday with stunts like the shirtless Richard Branson facing off with Irish fighter Connor McGregor. So seems to have his finger on the pulse of his brand.

No, agree I don't think Branson would have been in on a normal day to day retail meetings of which papers to sell, but I am sure that as the face of Virgin he has relayed the message to his PR team the beliefs and brand he wants to portray. So would have been certainly been kept on point and memoed to its release. and to have a response to the hollow PR stunt of dropping the DM. and the inevitable media interest and column inches this PR stunt would generate.

Maybe no criticism of Stagecoach as it is only west coast wholly owned Virgin franchise involved and not banned on the east coast which is a joint venture with Stagecoach I believe.

I thought you would have been more in agreement of his false plastic Blairite brand near Tory stance over NHS.

Re: The Daily Hail, it dont like it up em!.

You are right of course, I am not a huge fan of Branson but right things can come from wrong people, the principle is the thing not the individual.
Cheers for the Stagecoach explanation, we are still on steam railways over here, the UK network is a mystery to us.

Virgin Trains will stock Daily Mail newspapers, says Richard Branson in U-turn decision

The billionaire businessman tweeted that he had listened to concerns about an announcement last week that the operator would no longer sell the newspaper on its services.

Even though Branson has been telling us for years that he is Virgin the company and as the founder inseparable from its values, standing by the promotion of himself, in order to promote Virgin. In this, he has said it wasn't done at his behest and is blaming the staff. ( So I stand corrected Mollag you seem to be right on this )

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said he backs the u-turn, as he believes in the free press and would sell the DM if he nationalises the Railways.

You can always pull one out of the bin
Speaking of fictitious rights, what about my right to express[sic] my opinion by action?
