[QUOTE=Jaycey;1143058]Clearly those that decry Musk’s contribution to science have never heard of the Musk Foundation.

I hope you've not stuck me in that group? My whole point is that I would much prefer to see extra cash going to help the extremely poor people on this earth to help give them a somewhat better standard of life that many of us take for granted.

As for The Musk Foundation..............You're having a laugh Jaycey.

Musk Foundation: Set up in 2000, last worth declared, $2.4 billion.
Annual donations of between $175,000 - $600,000, given to, Renewable Energy Research, Science & Engineering Education and Human Space Exploration Research.

Not too much information is given out about this Foundation but it was set up and run by Elon and his younger brother Kimbal, both board members of Tesla and Space X.

Now, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation: Set up 1997, worth over $50 billion.
Annual donations now of over $4billion as they remain committed to eradication of Malaria & Polio, along with hoping to control the spreading of TB and HIV.

The Foundation's focus has always been on bridging the enormous health deficit between rich and poor countries as well as improving education facilities in 3rd world countries.

Since the year 2000, with help from this Foundation, 4 countries are said to have eradicated Malaria with mortality dropping overall by 42%.
In 2014, after the Foundation worked with the Indian Govt and International Rotary, India was said to be Polio FRee having had 2 million vaccinators working tirelessly throughout the country.

If we talk about what this Foundation does in Africa as well as in the USA, I'd never get off this keyboard so, please, check it out.

Musk Foundation? After 17 years they're not being seen to be doing a lot.
Gates Foundation? Similar years but giving massive help on this earth in improving peoples' health, education, occupational prospects and so much
more.

There are other Foundations working to improve life on this planet for each and every one of us. I'd rather support those than Elon Musk but then, I've never had a wish to go to Mars!
Kathmandu again next month and I'm still thinking about Mongolia before ı require a Zimmer Frame!

Never! Im sure that whenever you lift a glass of wine to your lips you are thinking that the money should be going to the poor

My whole point is that I would much prefer to see extra cash going to help the extremely poor people on this earth to help give them a somewhat better standard of life that many of us take for granted.

Yes, it would be nice to see more money going towards the upliftment of the impoverished but I say again that the primary obligation of a business must be towards its shareholders. Meanwhile I see some on here suggesting that GB foreign aid should be reduced! Seems that people are more generous with money that others have earned yet more cautious with their own.

Kathmandu again next month and I'm still thinking about Mongolia before ı require a Zimmer Frame!

Unless you enjoy smoked yak fat take plenty of sandwiches but the fishing is fantastic (eating fish is as abhorrent to Mongols as eating pork is to Muslims).
