This wont solve the problem of rape, woman who are forced to carry a fetus to birth , even though there may be no chance of sustainable life. Women with psychological problems and many more.
Contraception was illegal in Ireland, between 1930 - 1980. do you think we should go back to those days?
To think , back in 1980, many people in Ireland, voted to keep the ban on contraception. Luckily it was repealed. At the time it was the Catholic church telling people about the evil's of sex outside marriage and sex was only for the purpose of producing babies!

Re: Éire Medieval Abortion Law

We may be blamed by some sectarian idiots on here but this is where England and Wales come to Ireland’s women's rescue in its exporting of women needing an abortion. This is what makes Ireland’s near total abortion ban such a hypocrisy and such an insult to women, as it’s primarily a symbolic act the amendment as they know abortions happen but as long as it's not in Ireland the symbolism holds.

Abortion is available to women in Ireland either illegally on home soil or legally across the sea. So then this Eighth amendment also becomes a poverty issue, merely making it difficult for well off women to access a safe, legal abortion but even more difficult if not nigh impossible for less well off women, which has been known to lead to suicide.

Re: Éire Medieval Abortion Law

Always was a bit ironic the church lecturing 're sex issues. Certainly turned out that way in the end

Sadly the IOM has been the same, local uproar at present as we are dragged into the 20th Century.

Re: Éire Medieval Abortion Law

Vasectomies? are they illegal too?

Perhaps the law should be amended across the UK so that anyone guilty of rape which results in a child should be required to support the child financially up to age 21by compulsory deductions from income and/or a charge on assets.

In my book anyone convicted of rape would be rendered physically unable to commit a repeat offence. . .

For your next online shopping trip here are 10 anti-rape devices.
