Sadiq Khan’s Mayoralty

I am sure he is a very nice chap, BUT, he seems completely out of his depth. As far as I can see/read he has not fulfilled any of his stated aims, offered up when he was going to the polls; he seems to always be reacting, but not coming up with tactics to get ahead of the game; he seems happy to strut the World Stage, taking on the likes of Trump, but not doing much to improve the lives of his constituency. Am I missing the real man?

Ive watched him a couple of times when he's being grilled by councillors at his monthly Mayoral meetings (if they are monthly)............ducks & dives answers. He doesn't like to be challenged, continuously blaming knife crime on government cuts is wearing a bit thin, there's a problem & you don't need to be a Londoner to see it.
His attitude towards Trump & not wanting him in London is fair enough BUT he is the Mayor and not the Government, who can & cannot come into London is not down to him.
I wonder where he will go once his tenure is over, he's no Corbyn fan.

Re: Sadiq Khan’s Mayoralty

I don't think he's a 'nice' chap at all Ian, he's arrogant & condescending (imo).

I too frequently watch 'Mayors Questions' in the London assembly. From what I've seen he's only civil to people who agree with him or are Labour supporters, anybody else is treated with sarcasm & deliberate verbal abuse. I've lost count of the times I've heard him say (not verbatim) "Your Government" in reply to Tory members query's, requests for more info or follow-up on previous promises.

Funny that, I thought the UK only had One Government! I'm waiting for Someone to pick him up on it.....

As far as I'm concerned, he is not fit for purpose. Yes, he will bend over backwards for his agenda and those that suck up to the prat. But everyone knew what they were getting when they voted him in, so hell mend them.

Re: Sadiq Khan’s Mayoralty

London loses 30, 000 police officers .

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a8053816.html

wonder about knife crime getting even worse – if that’s conceivable – over the next period,” Mr Khan told the committee.

The Metropolitan force has been told to save £400m over the next five years, on top of £600m of previous cuts, Scotland Yard says.

Meanwhile, there is growing concern about a surge in terror cases involving Islamist and far-Right extremists, prompting a major drive to recruit more terrorism lawyers.

Mr Khan’s call puts him on a collision course with the Home Secretary after she told him and police chiefs to stop grumbling about funding and start “cutting” crime.

They should not just be “reaching for a pen to write a press release asking for more money"” when crime rises. Ms Rudd said recently, in a major speech.

The Government would consider bids for extra resources but the job of police and crime commissioners “mustn't just be about lobbying the Government for money”.

Warned by Sadiq , and ignored , a year ago .

Steve

Re: Sadiq Khan’s Mayoralty

Heard his comment today that its the "States fault", so can that excuse be used for every crime that's committed anywhere or just London?

If a neighbour of mine walks out of his house & shoots someone, is that the States fault, no !! Matters not how many police are on the streets, already reports are coming out that revenge is being planned via social media platforms. Its not a blame game but a sort out game that's required.
