Trump Putin Helsinki Summit

The Trump Putin Helsinki summit will this be another copy of North Korean debacle? with so much given for nothing concrete in return? no safeguards or verification of deed. Just another Trump, Dictator photo opportunity, whilst Putin plays the old fool Trump off, with his superior geopolitical know how and tactics, whilst Trump seemingly basks in the spotlight of his own ego.

Trump's lack of foreign policy knowledge and his tendency of going off message, combined with him not reading his security briefs could be a danger for the West especially if he does as with the NK , in a show of his magnanimous nature and willingness to get the better in the " art of the deal". ( which includes his love of cost-cutting, this time on the American military contributions cost in European war games ) and offer as he did with the NK to stop the combined US and allies war games, in this case, NATO's which neither men really like, but for different reasons.

The saving would make him a hero at home but throw a fear in the Baltic states and others in Nato who rely on these war games as a deterrent to Putin's expansionist thoughts...and to keep a cohesiveness within the combined NATO force.

Or he might give up Crimea by way of recognition in return for a wind down of tensions and Putin's support in Ukraine... Or maybe he will announce pulling the US out of Syria leaving the ME to Russia, Iran, Hezbollah, with Assad the willing puppet, and where will that leave Erdogan?

Trump will be a loose cannon at this Summit, we have reason to fear his ineptitude which in turn could turn the region on its head.

Camden, as I said to Jaycey, have you not been taking note of Trumpty speeches?

He has been studying for this all of his life. Just where he was studying is another question, if it was at one of his own Universities then all is lost

Re: Trump Putin Helsinki Summit

The next Trump/Putin meetup will probably go the same way as the last one…

"There were six people in the room when the president of the United States met the president of Russia: two presidents, two foreign ministers, two translators — with no aides, no advisers, no experts. There was nothing prepared in advance:The U.S. national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, said last week that there was “no specific agenda — it’s really going to be whatever the president wants to talk about.”

A nearly empty room. A blank slate. The Russian-American relationship, which has always been atypical, has now become strange, even surreal. It is not even predictable, in the way that most diplomatic relationships are usually more or less predictable, because it is not driven by the geopolitical or economic interests of either Russians or Americans. It is driven, rather, by the personal interests of the two main players…

So there it is: Both men got what they wanted. Bragging rights for Putin; a new friend for Trump. As for the rest of us — it doesn’t matter what we think. In this relationship, only two people matter...

Re: Trump Putin Helsinki Summit

To be expected Navarro, from someone with an ego like Trump, who has in the past said of himself to quote ...

"Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart " ... I went from very successful businessman, to top T.V. Star to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that! "

I bet he has a certificate to prove it too ... hung up beside his 4-F deferment certificate showing his ineligibility for military service on his spurious claim of“bone spurs” He would have been better if he had tried for Dementia as he didn't achieve Presidency on his first run... what about his dismal presidential campaign of 2000 for the Reform Party.
