Politics of shopping

here is a list of the top 10 businesses in Turkey by revenue. I found it interesting:-

Biggest Turkish companies by revenue

Just surmising. You will see that BIM is out ahead of Migros. in my opinion BIM customers are far more likely to be AKP supporters, and Migros customers are more likely to be opponents.
This is just an opinion, I wonder what other TLFlers think.

Re: Politics of shopping

I can honestly say I prefer efes l a to any of its other products , and that is because it tastes less like Efes than all the others .

I think your right IA not only due to the prices at BIM which is more in line with the Majority of Akp supporters but the owner Chairman is an old friend of the Erdogan family ... Mustafa Latif Topbaş recently in a summer house scandal involving daughter Sümeye Erdogan. So encouragement will be made to shop there... As Migros is Koc a family some see as an old secularist White Turk family ...

Re: Politics of shopping

We were discussing this today. We shop mainly in BIM, not for any political reason, but for price and quality of goods there. It beats, Migros, Sok and A101 hands down. However we do use all the others at times and, of course, Migros for alcoholic beverages. Top tipple is Tuborg with Efes Malt coming a close second. Yes to P O as it seems to be the cheapest round our way and drive a Tofas Kartal.
