Re: Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

Journalists have been targets for many leaders. As seen with the common links between the killing of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the Russian journalist Boris Nemtsov ... both were outspoken critics of two of the worlds largest oil dictatorship leaders ..... leaders known not to tolerate critism lightly. ( a bit like a TLF mod It seems )

The two journalists both hated the corruption and dirty wars their countries of birth were prosecuting and weren't quiet in voicing it , resulting in both being silenced.

Re: Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

This does not add up, Turkey does not support LTE so no cellular communication possible unless connected to the phone somehow.

The watch can communicate with the phone through WiFi, but I feel sure that they did not have a password to use the WiFi.

The phone was with his fiance outside the building not in it so that rules out Bluetooth, as Bluetooth is very short range. Try leaving your phone on the balcony then nip to the loo with your Bluetooth music player.

The watch he had does not have a fingerprint unlock function so that can't have happened.

So if an audio file does exist where did it come from and how was it actually recorded?

I agree with Bickern, lots of smoke and mirrors here. The truth with never come out, we are in for lots of accusations and denials. Meanwhile apple get good plugs for their products.

Re: Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

Turkish officials have told the US they have the audio files as evidence .

So suspect the Apple Watch theory which has been disproven In the press could have either been a cover story rather than embarass the Turks on thier bugging of countries Embassies and Consulates.

Or bad reporting mistaking the Turks hunt for Apple Watch to lift his health details and records for supposedly looking for a possible recording.

Re: Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

Was it so hard to assassinate this fella on the streets of Istanbul, instead of literally laying it at the doors of the Saudi Embassy? Saudis.........more money than sense if this crime is proven. TBH, it will just be a denial, what else could the Saudis say?

Re: Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

I think there is more behind Turkey's high profile international stance on this killing ... as few years ago the Khashoggi killing would hardly have made the Turkish press due to the warm relations between Erdogan and the old Saudi regime.

We have since seen the relationship wane between Turkey and the Saudis. It has deteriorated since Turkey took the Qatari's side in a spat between the Saudi and Qatar ( the $15 billion aid to the Turkish economy by the Qatari's would have helped that decision I would think )

This could be another piece of blackmail diplomacy much favoured by the Turkish President to put pressure on the Saudis .... by how much they will release of Saudi involvement .

I have it on good authority that there is a constant war of attrition between a host country and the embassy's/consulates of other countries with regard surveillance, especially when they are not friendly or not considered as allies (but that didn't stop Obama bugging Merkel's phone), so I would think that if Turkey does possess such evidence, it will be through electronic eavesdropping.

For a change, I agree on this possibility. Turkey will use as much leverage as possible to get something from SA in exchange for keeping quiet. Secret deals will be made and the story will gently fall down the memory hole.

If that happens, we could always ask Bellingcrap to investigate...

Re: Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi

The difference between now & 20 years ago, intel is now online for all to see. CCTV footage, wiretaps, spying, suspects filmed in & out of airports etc has now become daily public knowledge. 20 years back it would've been a whisper on page five, now its front page stuff.
