Re: American huntress proud to shoot Scottish Goats
Culling of animals is a necessary evil , i cannot understand glorying in the kill of a placid animal .
Why do we always have to pose with a rifle prominently raised in conquest , single handed , does it qualify the trophy ?
Look at me , look at a dead animal , ins't my gun wonderful ?
Surely a Gold in a competition would mean something more to a " marksman " .

Sorry thats rubbish
Sable are legally hunted in Texas South Africa, Limpopo and Namibia
People struggle to understand this type of hunting. Admitedly its not for me but ill try to explain
Take Richmond Park in London
its 2500 acres and it supports a herd of 350 fallow and 300 red deer
That is ALL it can support
Every year around 200 -250 deer are born in the park
This is simply not sustainable so bassed on births a deer cull is performed in November to bring the numbers back down to 350 fallow 300 reds.
They could pay someone to do this but instead they sell the cull to hunters. (cant see the point fish in a barrel to me, but some like it)
Now multiply that by 10,000 and you have a typical African National park and the same applies to every species of animal in the park
Illegal hunters are not hunters they are poachers. They should go to prison.
Hunters are a valuable resource and should be supported.
Properly managed land is an asset to the human race. Properly managed land requires husbandry of its population and until we can convince animals to wear condoms, hunting is the best method of dealing with it.

Re: American huntress proud to shoot Scottish Goats
In the "sport" of hunting, the kill is the medal/trophy. A cull is one thing, doing it for ones own pleasure is something else.

Ha ha you sound like one of this religious groups who think sex is for procreation only and enjoying it is a sin
I get that you dont get it. Thats fine, but dont try and make out people who do get it are the problem
Hunting and the desire to hunt is as old as man. Its an instinct
When I was a kid we snared rabbits and ate them, later wed catch eels and have them for breakfast, shoot rabbits with a catapult and progressed to Air rifles shotguns for pheasant Pidgeon etc and then full bore rifles for deer and boor.
Being on the hill or in the woods, Hunting, killing, butchering and cooking my own meet is a singular pleasure I have enjoyed from a young age.
I trust of course you're a Vegan? I sincerely hope your not an animal murderer who thinks its OK because you personally didn't fire the gun and if you did you wouldn't enjoy it but you'd eat that juicy steak anyway.

Re: American huntress proud to shoot Scottish Goats
Industrial meet production is cruel to animals and highly damaging to the environment. We do not need massive beef herds taking up vast resources and farting out huge quantities of methane which is a greenhouse gas many times worse then C02
25 years ago when I went to China milk was non existent as was cheese. I remember having condensed milk in coffee as it was all I could get. Now we have westernised the Chinese and they are crazy for Coffee with milk, Cheese and beef.
Net result of the explosion of dairy herds and beef herds to cope with demand in China has been the total wiping out of all environmental progress made in the same period.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO EAT MEET
There is absolutely no justification for eating meet it is simply not necessary to murder billions pigs and chickens just for your pleasure of eating them
Meet is murder
Doing away with meet will stop the wastage of arable land required to feed cattle, reduce greenhouse gasses significantly and eradicate he cruelty of the slaughter house and raping cows to give us milk. (did you know cows suffer depression when the calves are removed before being weaned so you can have milk and cheese?) And what do you Vegetarians think happen to the bulls? Obviously the bulls from the artificially inseminated Dairy Cows end up as meet as a by product
Lets not even think about the failure of many antibiotics due to their usage on farms
Doing away with meet dairy and cheese will help save the planet, reduce heart disease and obesity and it is believed red meet reduction will help prevent cancer
There is NOTHING stopping you doing this except the fact you ENJOY eating meet, cheese and dairy products
Of course if we do away with all the cows chickens and pigs we will still need to cull deer so you could eat venison and wild boor humanly culled by hunters in an environmentally friendly way
But if you enjoy the meet can you at least allow the hunters to enjoy the hunt
In the mean time, he who is without sin may cast the first rock

You seem to think Chasey that people who may have a different view to you "don't get it".............what's there to get? A cull is one thing, killing animals just for the sheer pleasure/enjoyment of it is something else, that something else is nothing to do with religion, sex or Vegans.
Opinions are like ar*eholes, everyone has got one, like it or not.

For that photo, I drove 640 miles to west inverness. I drove about a mile off road in a 4x4, then I walked another mile or so up the foot hils of a mountain often sinking in the bog up to my knees
This was my forth attempt. I have walked apx 20 odd miles in total up the foothills of a mountain through bogs and across burns prior to being able to take that one shot
The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful
Last year I shot nothing and I still came away thinking id had a stunning three days
This year I shot two. I didn't take a photo of the second one as it wasnt my first red or my first using that new rifel QED no point in my mind
If you think stalking in close enough to get shot on a deer in the highlands is easy your seriously mistaken. It takes a lot of skill and a massive amount of effort

I hate to admit it Spurs but for once I am forced, much against my better judgement, to agree with you
Meanwhile...
A TV presenter has been awarded America’s highest accolade for bravery after courageously shooting a tiny goat in Scotland.
Larysa Switlyk had been hunting on the Scottish island of Islay when she posted a photo of herself with a tiny helpless goat that she had just bravely murdered.
Ms Switlyk, who describes herself as a “hardcore huntress” and hosts the Larysa Unleashed programme, shared her joy at shooting something a fifth of her size with her fans, who presumably all fired their pistols in the air back home in celebration.
Spokesperson for Scottish Tourism, Simon McWilliams, told the press, “Well, she’s a proper hero, isn’t she?
“This tiny, unarmed goat has been terrorising the Isle of Islay for two whole years with its bleating and running off to hide whenever anyone approaches it.
“We’ve been praying for a brave hero or heroine to come and save us from it, and yesterday our prayers were answered.
“We’ll never know the courage it must have taken to don camouflage gear worth hundreds of dollars and blow the brains out of this small defenceless goat from several hundred yards away with a high powered rifle, but we will be forever grateful.”
It is understood that Larysa Switlyk will today be stepping up her hunt by gunning down some bumble bees with a shotgun.

It looks as though one of our members may qualify for a Medal of Honour.
