I see your point, but the biggest cause of violence on our streets is alcohol, until that is sorted you will not see much change.

Just 24 hours ago in my London area yet another machete wielding men came to the area to get a gang of youths. Police helicopters riot police many police cars and arms too. Probably won't make national news because it's a regular thing here. But the expense incurred and lives at risk is horrendous. We have to get tougher and I don't care which why or who gets it done it just has to be done. We must have a zero tolerance policy and deal with perpetrators adequately.

Where the hell in UK towns & cities is a machete part of someone’s tool kit? Possession alone should merit being parachuted into a jungle so the owner can put it to good use & hack his own way out.

Totally agree. Plus Alcohol is number one drug.

Re: New UK PM

I’m a bit lost on the current situ.
If a no confidence vote prevails against BJ, who acts as PM from there on in?

He would and he could call a GE or the Queen appoints a new PM as BJ resigns. The new PM would have to show he/she commands a majority.

Any names?
I ask because someone on the news named either Ken Clarke or Hilary Benn to lead, both of which are remainers. That alone would surely create more problems.

Re: New UK PM

Harriet Harman has also popped up as an option, the Blairites want anyone but JC, they are essentially Tories masquerading as Socialists so no surprise there.

Hilary Benn has nowhere near the support required, else he would be Labour leader already, you will recall his miserably failed attempts to topple JC.
But Ken Clarke?--Hmm there is a nostalgic respect for him but really I dont see him as as a rallying point leader on this issue.
Harriet Harman ? too Blairite to get support from the Left in preference to JC.
The Leader commanding the most support other than BJ at present is JC, will there be a dance while all pretend he doesn't.?

There would be much whinging IF it happens, but then again, how many showed Joy that BJ was stealing the PM position?

How would anyone else , Ken Clarke for ex, show that they had a majority and functioning Gov?

I wonder Mollag if Westminster is about to get involved in yet another pointless, going nowhere debate.
