Re: Boris's fibs

Scots delighted at imminent prospect of independence after Boris Johnson categorically rules it out

After Boris Johnson gave a cast-iron guarantee that there will not be a second referendum on Scottish Independence, many Scottish nationalists have finally begun to believe they are on the verge of independence.

Boris’ cast-iron guarantee comes just a few weeks after his last cast-iron guarantee – that Brexit will definitely happen on 31 October – leading many Scottish nationalists to wonder if they might even be fully independent by Christmas.

As the untidy haystack spewed more falsehoods mixed with Latin, Scots both sides of the border almost cracked a smile at the realisation the independence dream is closer than ever.

Simon McWilliams told us, “I’ll be honest, I genuinely thought independence was probably out of the question for at least another five years. We’ll keep demanding it, obviously, but we never really thought it would happen.

“Until Boris categorically said wouldn’t, and now we can’t help but think we’re on the verge!

“The more he says it’s definitely no happening, the more we believe it is. If he would just mention something about him rather being dead in a ditch than seeing Scotland independent, I think we’d crack open the Buckfast!”

A Conservative party spokesperson said, “Boris has definitely ruled out a second Scottish independence referendum, and it’s a promise that he fully intends to keep.

“No, not like that one. No, or that one. No, not like his marriage vows either. Yes, I can see where you’re going with this, but trust us, this is a promise he will definitely keep.

“Please stop laughing.”

I speak as a Scot living in Scotland and who voted for independence in 2014 But if those who voted then were to now realise the rubbish, promises and grossly incorrect economic "lies" that was fed by the SNP and Tories and Labour in 2014 then just maybe their vote would be different now. Irrespective of what party it is - we are fed "fibs" .

Re: Boris's fibs

Fair do's guys, Boris is not the first lying politician but he may be the first un-apologetic one for the UK, his output is phenomenal, maybe the equal of Donald.

Does anyone know if export forms will be required for NI exports, Tory Minister says yes, Boris says no, which one is lying you ask ? guess who my money is on?

Claim

Johnson was responding to a Northern Irish exporter asking if he would have to fill in customs forms for goods going to Great Britain after Brexit. Johnson said: “You will absolutely not.” The prime minister had said in a speech: “There will not be checks on goods going from Northern Ireland to Great Britain.”
Johnson has made similar claims before. In parliament on 22 October he said: “There will be no checks between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.”

Three days after Johnson’s comments in Northern Ireland, the hapless Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng backed Johnson in an interview with Sky’s Sophie Ridge. He said Johnson was right in saying there would be no customs checks or forms: “As far as I understand I don’t think there will be. I think the prime minister’s absolutely right.”
Facts

Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay told the House of Lords in October that paperwork would be required for goods sent from Northern Ireland to Great Britain.
Verdict

The prime minister’s statement was a lie. Not for the first time, Kwarteng went on to parrot false statements made by a cabinet colleague.
