Yes that sounds like what I was told at the time. Just couldn't remember. Thanks mollag. Makes sense too. Thanks for explaining.

Re: Global warming,so what happened to it.

TBH I dont buy into the whole doomwatch scenario, the "We are all gonna die and it's all your fault" type of guilt shaming

But then it would be foolish to continue to pollute and recklessly damage what we have, defecating on your own doorstep comes to mind, so, where I wont jump on the bandwagon, I would encourage sensible actions to limit problems for the future.

As with plastic goods, us end users dont force, ask. clamour for or demand these single use products, it is a fait accompli when we buy in shops, the damage is already done, the onus is then put on us to resolve it, to pay for it with taxes and hyped prices and single use levy's
The place to start is with the manufacturer, the person profiting from plastic, certainly the public doesnt, but will be the ones who pay.

Simply ban the manufacture use, watch how fast the problems recede.

Just because you don't agree with their conclusion, doesn't mean they weren't considered ... Also just because they don't appear doesn't mean they weren't considered before publication .....
Even if that was the case, there wasn't anything to be lost by mentioning other possible factors e.g. they were considered but discounted for reason a,b,c.

The reason they were not mentioned was probably they were never considered in the first place. Why wasn't the fact that Solomon Islands can have over 200 earthquakes every year mentioned? It is slap bang over a tectonic fault line after all.

What about local tide gauges. What do they show and were they discussed? Of course not. Don't forget Mr. Camden, you state there is always more than one side of a story.

Maybe next time The Guardian needs a Guest Editor you could volunteer to tell them how they should do there job, for not including the boundless scenarios. Hope they have the column inches .

I don't know though, how they would take to someone who would rush out a statement to malign, the immediacy of someones conclusion, based purely on guess, rather than evidence.

Its all about giving governments more taxes, Some German MPs are now trying to get an extra tax on meat....to help save the planet!

Re: Global warming,so what happened to it.

Yes I agree totally. But it's probably going to get a lot worse than that. It's about governments trying to control all aspects of peoples life. From dictating what you should or shouldn't eat (to save the planet); whether you should have children, if so, how many; preventing holidays via aircraft; use only electric cars, abolishing all carbon fuels, including gas etc.

Most western governments seem to be at the behest of extreme groups such as Extinction Rebellion.

Re: Global warming,so what happened to it.

That would be a good & sensible start but if China & your Russia donít join the party it will all be rather pointless.

The likes of the Guardian (and you it seems), aren't interested in presenting all the facts. If they did that, the hoax would be immediately exposed for what it is.

Any (so called) journalist who dared to deviate from their doctrine by asking sensible questions or who looked at real world data would be given short shrift. What we have now is a type of environmental McCarthyism.

Losing your career, with all its benefits and the consequences on your family, is a strong motivator to toe the party line.

The function of newspapers is to sell newspapers and to make profit for its owners. You will not do that by telling people "move along, nothing to see here". Instilling a sense of panic or fear is what sells newspapers. That has always been the case.

Quite recently, the Guardian editorial staff had a meeting re climate change and decided that because they felt their message of impending climate catastrophe was not getting through as they wished, it was decided that more emotive wording was to be used such as "climate emergency". This has of course has now been taken up by the BBC and others.

https://www.theguardian.com/environm...he-environment

If you believe that we have only 10 years to save the planet, you will be much more motivated to co-operate and do as you are told.

And that's what it's all about in the end; CONTROL- just like religion really.
