Re: Iraq

Hundreds of leaked Iranian intelligence documents have revealed Tehran's massive influence in Iraq, including paying Iraqi agents in the US to switch sides.

The unprecedented leak of 700 pages of the intelligence cables written mainly in 2014 and 2015 by Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security shows how Iran 'aggressively embedded' itself in its neighbouring country.

The reports obtained by the New York Times and the Intercept show how Iran is trying to infiltrate every aspect of Iraq's political, economic and religious life.

IN MID-OCTOBER, with unrest swirling in Baghdad, a familiar visitor slipped quietly into the Iraqi capital. The city had been under siege for weeks, as protesters marched in the streets, demanding an end to corruption and calling for the ouster of the prime minister, Adil Abdul-Mahdi. In particular, they denounced the outsize influence of their neighbor Iran in Iraqi politics, burning Iranian flags and attacking an Iranian consulate.

The visitor was there to restore order, but his presence highlighted the protestersí biggest grievance: He was Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, head of Iranís powerful Quds Force, and he had come to persuade an ally in the Iraqi Parliament to help the prime minister hold onto his job.

They too donít trust the iranian regime but cannot let go of the vast iranian resources which has been spread for them over the past 40 yers.so much so that they are even prepared to turn a blind eye on iranian terrorism inside Europe .
America has woken ip to the dangers of terrorist regimes Europe will soon follow specially now that they see this regime has got no chance of surviving against the uprising .
The international nuclear agency has recently declared that traces of uranium has been found in an undeclared iranian site. Is this a paranoia.

Iraq PM says he will quit after cleric's call but violence rages on

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi announced his resignation on Friday after the countryís senior Shiíite Muslim cleric urged lawmakers to reconsider their support for a government rocked by weeks of deadly anti-establishment unrest.

The departure of Abdul Mahdi could be a blow for Iranian influence after Iranís militia allies and its own commanders intervened last month to keep the premier in place despite mass anti-government unrest.

Iraq protests: 21 dead as police fire live rounds and tear gas in fresh wave of unrest

Most deaths occurred after protesters hit in the face by tear gas canisters and rubber bullets, officials say

The demonstrators, mostly young, unemployed men, carried Iraqi flags and chanted anti-government protests, demanding jobs, water and electricity.

The protests began on 1 October over corruption, unemployment and a lack of basic services but quickly turned deadly as security forces cracked down, using live ammunition for days.

Re: Iraq

Nothing to worry about anymore

Prior to 2003 the west had pretty much zero control of the oil in the second largest production area on this planet, but post invasion Shell, Emmerson and BP have carved up the lions share and thrown a bone or two to China and France so its all good now and the natives can go back to throwing rocks at each other.

Hussein who was boosted into power by the CIA lead coup, made the fatal mistake of doing a massive deal with China over the oil. We couldn't let that happen so Husain was slapped down in no uncertain terms.

But its all good now. The Oil Dollar is safe and we can all relax
