Well the 'herd' stupidity by the UK public (Londoners being the biggest bunch of idiots) seems in full swing....still.

More pictures online today of London platforms full of morons who just don't understand simple government advice.

Yet lots more idiots saying the government advice needs to be clearer.

These people need to start thinking for themselves.

If/when the government imposes martial law then they'll be called 'dictators'.
It's clearly a no win situation and some on here just keep using as a Boris bashing exercise.

I could have posted this in either thread.

Re: Boris - Tories - What now?

I don’t think any PM could’ve/would’ve played it any differently myself. It was all about staged timing.
Has Italy or Spain played it wrong? I don’t think so myself, Governments are being led by the science & science are desperately searching for the answer.
Johnson, Macron, Merkel etc are just the message carriers in this crisis.

Re: Boris - Tories - What now?

I don’t think anyone has a handle on it myself, everyone is living on hope. The big question is what happens when lockdowns dwindle?
Seems to me that everyone is still following Italy’s path, it’s not a drop in a dozen cases that nations are looking for, they’re looking for that drop to be in the hundreds.

Both my daughter and her husband are now working from home, that means I get my wife back here. It’s been a worry for me that she’s been there weekdays babysitting BUT like most women they make their own priorities, my daughter and the grandkids wellbeing was her priority.
Out of 300 Aldi office staff as of yesterday, only 12 were called into work and that was to pick up laptops and work from home.

It is not just because of the aged population in Italy, that they are suffering badly, it is because they failed to act quickly enough in regard to testing and lockdown.

Those countries that ramped up their testing and took measures to lockdown areas are now seeing a slowdown in new cases. When Chineese experts went to Italy to help, they were apparently appalled at the measures they had taken, and at that time Italy already had in place better precautuions that the UK and US have in place now.

I heard the other day that Iceland are now preparing to test everyone, as tests that they have already carried out show that up to 40% of the people who exhibit no symtoms at all actually have the virus.

What countries are seeing a slowdown of any significance?

In fact there appears to be only two, China and S. Korea. If you look at the data from two weeks ago for both of those countries the number of cases has hardly moved, where as with everyone else they have risen, and those countries that are behind on the testing aspect and measures of lockdown have seen dramatic rises.

France, Germany, Spain and the UK are all playing catch up and that period of non intervention is showing in the figures. For all that the death toll in Italy has fallen over the last two days, it is to early to say if that is the result of the more drastic measures that they put in, or other factors
