Boris - Tories - What now?

Well I have for the most part held Boris to be an embarrassment and a buffoon, hot on that opinion was the fact he is a notorious liar.

Now I have to reflect on what he has achieved against the odds, so what am I missing? London Mayor and then PM is no mean achievement.

Apparently he is going to put NHS spending into law, more of which will be in the Queen's speech. The move will guarantee the Prime Minister's pledge to increase NHS spending by £33.9bn by 2023-24, and mark the first time a government has made a multi-year spending commitment legally binding.

He is still adamant he will get Brexit done as well.

Will he get trade agreements sorted against the odds, especially with the US?

Re: Boris - What now?

Boris Johnson is considering a move to decriminalise non-payment of the BBC licence fee in a move likely to further worsen relations between Number 10 and the broadcaster.

The Prime Minister hinted during the general election campaign that he wanted to scrap the licence fee as he questioned its long term viability.

And fresh after winning a massive Tory majority, Mr Johnson has instructed aides to undertake a review to look at whether people should still be prosecuted for failing to pay the £154.50 annual levy.

It comes after it was claimed that Downing Street has effectively banned ministers from appearing on BBC Radio 4's Today programme because of concerns about alleged pro-EU bias.

The Tories did not put anybody up to go on the BBC's flagship morning news show on Friday or yesterday, with a boycott expected to remain in place unless there is a noticeable change in approach.

Re: Boris - What now?

Just had a mail from my (British) son in UK…

“BJ or JC? Devil and the deep blue!

My application for a Dutch passport is now approved and as soon as the munchkins finish school we’re leaving for S France…”

I think many are of similar mind.

Understands what? That you again demonstrate your ignorance?

I would, with greatest respect, suggest that you stay with topics of which you have at least some small understanding.

Like him or loathe him he seems to get out of jail more times than the honourable member for the Ukraine.

He'll probably get hauled off again soon.

The British like a rogue, especially if they see him as a likeable rogue. He makes them laugh, he tells tall stories, he gets on with people - all the traits you find in such personalities. Many who meet him say he is personable and the sort of person you would enjoy having a drink with. They think they have the measure of him, and accept all the faults if he does what they want. He is more appealing then any of the others. You either like him or detest him - and, on the day, enough liked.
