Tenpin, just have a search on google about the fishing rights.
I looked at an article by the BBC.
It appears that UK fishermen, trawler owners etc sold their fishing rights sometime ago when effectively fishing rights became a "free market" and quotas were traded.
It seems a lot of the U.K. fishermen, trawler owners took the money.
Scottish fishermen didn't and neither did European fishermen.
So, it seems we are now meant to feel aggrieved for people who had already sold their rights to land fish?

Worth a Google about who owns Scotland fishing rights, also I read the other day that 70 to 80% of Fish landed by Brits is sold to the EU market, sounds like an own goal to me.

Nothing like a capitalist free market until it doesn't suit.

I was listening the other day about the fishing rights and apparently the reason Macron wants a deal is not the economy of it but if he doesn't get a deal it will piss off all the fishing ports in France which currently support Macron, if he loses it he is likely to lose those area votes to la Penn.

Re: Brexit going forward

Didn't I read a report yesterday about Cornish fishermen taking scallops in the Bay of Seine just off the French Coast?
So is that going to stop or are we, in typical fashion, trying to say that doesn't count, we've always done it?

Re: Brexit going forward

Ah now Tenpin, as u know well trading on WTO terms for the U.K. (or rather GB) with the EU would be *worse* than the terms on which Afghanistan, Somalia etc. trade with the EU.
These countries benefit from tariff-free exports of Everything But Arms to the EU.
The U.K. wouldn't.

How does an Afghan + deal sound !
