Environment issues, cost issues, health issues. I wonder if some people think that because the likes of Johnson etc recovered they think they will? Was there any real need for Blair to fly to Washington?

Polar opposite to ardent Zionist Starmer then

Taken that the opposite is Boris??

As Socialist's maybe shouldn't be quick to judge I like most did, seeing him up close a bit posh, as one of two Labour MP's for Camden he wasn't my first choice. But

Stamer did run on a left wing ticket eg renationalise mail, rail, and water, abolish Universal Credit, and ban tuition fees. None of these policies are centrist so we will see what happens .

OK his actions on taking over as leader seem to have taken it more centre of Corbyn but seemingly electable like NZ Jacinda Ardern did ...

Things that haven't looked good and might give you the impression you hold ?,might be the sacking Long Bailey.... which IMHO was Wrong. And the not taking on Labour Zionists financed by Israeli Embassy through some members of the Labour Friends of Israel... who were damaging the Party and Corbyn, by not now taking them to court, in a case we would have won. Wrong maybe ?.

But in saying that we can't fault his political tactic in not allowing a right-wing media and Pro Israeli Govt supporters continuing to use anti semitism. Anti Semitism that took a massive amount of Labour Party time defending the position also sucking up the bandwidth in the media and on the streets that damaged Corbyn in an election, Starmer has blunted it, in his action of closing it down.

Looking at Starmer we might jump to the conclusion he is a Zionist, but we mustn't fall into the stereotypes the right-wing media would like to promote.. Like he is a Zionist, because in his background their is a Jewish influence in his wife faith.. Socialist movement historically is a home for a broad school of many minorities inc Jews that have/are/were anti Zionist.....

We also have to look at Starmer ... he did appoint to an important position of influence in the Labour Party and it's foreign policy... the strong Chairwoman of the Labour Party Friends of Palestine.... Lisa Nandy as Foreign Secretary (shadow) someone who is on record recently re-affirming support at the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, in opposing any “blockade of Gaza , the illegal occupation” of Palestine, criticized British arm sales to Israel and endorse's the “right of return”

If Starmer is a Zionist? then a strange one or maybe you didn't know ?.... like his FS Nandy he is also a member of Labour Friends of Palestine, as well as the LFPME.

He does disappoint me, on his stance on BDS, but like his predecessor Corbyn. he quite rightly was an opponent of the 2003 invasion of Iraq and for not having UN approval. which he protested on the streets alongside the grassroots of the Labour Party , he also is for a ban on the sale of arms to SA , and brining Iran out of Isolation ... So time will tell...

BBC Newsnight.....

TONIGHT: “I think it’s fairly apparent Keir had other motives”

Former Shadow Home Secretary, Diane Abbott, tells @lewis_goodall she was suspicious of Keir Starmer when they were in the shadow cabinet together

https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/sta...048139777?s=19

This is outrageous. How dare Diane Abbott tell the truth.

I’d be surprised if she stands in the 2024 election myself...

Angela Rayner under fire for ‘calling a Conservative MP scum’ in Commons chamber.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-b1205749.html

Extract:
Angela Rayner has been censured in the Commons chamber for apparently calling a Conservative MP “scum”.

Christopher Clarkson, her fellow Greater Manchester MP, reacted with fury to a remark from the deputy Labour leader, saying: “Excuse me, did the honourable lady just call me scum?”

Amid angry scenes – during a debate on the bitter row over the area being forced into tier 3 restrictions – the deputy Speaker was forced to shout ‘Order!’ over and over.

“We will not have remarks like that, not under any circumstances – no matter how heartfelt it might be. Not at all,” she told Ms Rayner.

Keir Starmer’s deputy did not deny making the remark.

Unlike the PM and his acolytes , she is not a liar then .

Re: Labour going forward

What is there to deny ?? a degree of accuracy there.

Merriam and Webster the Meaning... Scum .....a low, vile, or worthless person or group of people
