I only asked if the EU itself wants Turkey to join, not what individual member states think. EU policy is a separate issue.

Chips, the point is EU policy isn't separate but set by 27 EU member states along with European Council President and the President of the European Commission.

The European Council defines the EU's overall political direction, policy and priorities and is the meeting place for heads of state or government.

Re: The EU going forward

Brexit is bringing benefits , unfortunately not for us but the French...EU going forward

Brexit ‘to bring €150 billion to France by year’s end’

Financial firms will move around €150 billion from Britain to France by the end of the year, when Britain’s post-Brexit transition period ends, the head of the Bank of France said Wednesday (7 October).

The “swift” flow across the Channel includes both French groups moving assets home from British branches and moves by 43 UK-based entities “to make sure they can keep trading in France,” Francois Villeroy de Galhau said at a Paris banking event.

A further 31 financial players, “mostly investment companies” have asked to register in France and their applications are being examined by market watchdog ACPR, he added.

Euractiv?????? Funny but when I put a link from them the other day, you was on it like a rash....
The French are happy? Not the French Port of Calais operators or the local Mayor. The UK will be opening new ports which will knock Calais out of the loop for many of our imports. Even RoI proposed new sailing routes for goods doesn’t include Calais, if there is no use of the UK as a land bridge, Calais loses those trucks.

Re: The EU going forward

You, are unreal Chips. So you are ready without mentioning our part in this and our own large losses in it due to Brexit, of billions of euros worth of transporting trade from the ROI to Europe via UK .. With the ROI circumventing the UK ports and instead sending it direct from ROI to the EU ports of Netherlands and Belgium ..

But you want to some how gloat forgetting our own losses, of billions due to Brexit in transporting . That loss will be shared because of our Brexit with the French Ports ( which seems just petty or sour grapes ) ............The ROI for commercial reasons because of Brexit will be sending their transport trade via the ports of Holland and Belgium soo two other EU members will profit from the lost UK trade..

I suppose the French will have to be content with the €150 billion they are benefiting from the loss they will be taking from London's financial services and the other windfalls coming their way from the fallout from Brexit...
